It seems Softube have anticipated your requirement and are one step ahead. It would simply be a button that when engaged, makes every parameter adjustment work on both layers, exactly as it does when shift is pressed.

My guess in another thread was right, CS80 Yamaha one of the best synths ever created. Will demo it.
Keep on releasing some more Yamaha, Softube!

The simple colour coding of controls on their respective layers is really good design.LaserLobes wrote: Thu Sep 05, 2024 2:25 am I inherited a CS-80 at one point. I had it for about a decade. It was such an absolute PITA. Huge 200+ pound maintenance project helped me pay off my student loans lol. I'm so glad that we have decent quality models now. The CS-80 holds a special place in my heart as it was the sound of my childhood, so I'll probably pick up the Softube one even though I have the Arturia version. I expect each to have their strengths and weaknesses.
I was a little hesitant of the Model 77 at first because of the layer page jumping to get back and forth to the two voice layers. That kind of thing ruined Moog's Mariana for me to some extent. But, the page jumping in Mariana is far far more disruptive in what amounts to a stunning GUI design failure for those of us not using an iPad for music production.
With the Model 77, it looks like everything is reasonably laid out on the same page per voice layer so Softube may have struck a really nice balance here. I am happy to see them taking some more risks away from perfect recreations of vintage units in an age where so much more flexibility is available. It's a very tight rope to walk and not everyone is going to be happy about such departures. But if there's one thing that I've learned from the many years of reading these forums, it is that you can give us everything we ask for and we'll still find things to complain about. I'm excited for this one. I think it sounds great so far.
Having the master filter control always available is great too.
I've found the controls both Cherry Audio's and Arturia's emulation really cramped and as a result fiddly and unappealing. Just trying to cram as much into the screen.
I know it's a more 1:1 design approach which is commendable but it doesn't really work with a synth like a CS80 because of the amount of controls you have to emulate. You would have to take a non skeuomorphic approach to really make it work as a plugin.
By choosing two different panels you allow the controls to remain big and usable and less cluttered. You do miss out on the "big picture " view but the big picture view on the other emulations was often too cramped to be usable anyway.
I much prefer this approach. It just makes it far more usable.

I have the ME80 and it is not remotely a CS-80 VA. The best you can say about it is that it's inspired by the CS-80.Korg Supporter wrote: Tue Sep 03, 2024 5:32 pmHave you tried ME80 or Arminator?trusampler wrote: Tue Sep 03, 2024 3:28 pm I'm not at all impressed with the sound designers choices for the presets of this synth. This is the first synth from Softube that hasn't made me feel like I need it in my toolbox. The Model 80 and 84 sound much better to my ears then this one. I think the Arturia CS80 V4 will hold me over, I think the Arturia option sounds better. Personally I'd rather see Softube tackle the Alesis Andromeda or other boutique synths vs doing the same thing over and over.

Many of the pre-sets sound a lot better when played with my Osmose (Poly AT) as the AT is a bit 'on/off' with my regular midi controller.
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Model 77 can sound wonderful. I think Softube have done a top job and the only issue is limitations of the CS80. They probably should have included chorus and tremolo effects and done more work with factory presets. I'm sure many will pick it up for the collection when Softube inevitably discount deeper later on.

I get the feeling much of the disappointment comes from discovering that the CS-80 takes a lot of work to sound good. I think the plugin itself is fine, my only real complaints being the mediocre presets and having to hold shift to program both layers at once.

They've gotten plenty of mixed receptions before. Parallels comes to mind. I think people forget that plug-in exists.seafire wrote: Thu Sep 05, 2024 7:25 pm I get the feeling, from comments on various forums, this might be STs first flop![]()

I'm only interested in this Model 77 for the individual modules for Softube Modular.. but then again I'm not touching that until they update it's usability. So that's a no for me then..

Plays really nice using the Hydrasynth.SLiC wrote: Thu Sep 05, 2024 6:46 pm Many of the pre-sets sound a lot better when played with my Osmose (Poly AT) as the AT is a bit 'on/off' with my regular midi controller.

To my ears, the Arturia sounds better, Cherry Audios does as well. I love Softube plugins, but this one should have got more attention from the devs and sound designers. I’m not saying it can’t sound good. It can, it just takes more work to make it sound as good. Only my opinion!! Don’t mind me at all.teilo wrote: Thu Sep 05, 2024 2:34 pmI have the ME80 and it is not remotely a CS-80 VA.
