I had that demo on a 1.44mb floppy disk. The video is much larger :hihi:
We did a demo inspired by this Amiga demo on Atari. I did a tune for that but I wasn't half has talented as Travolta unfortunately ...

Other times....

Are some here that oblivious to Renoise? It can load VSTs.

Renoise with integrated CDP luatool is a powerhouse dsp box , and although it's instrument editor has some flaws , you can do some really neat stuff with it .
USing unipolar samples as a windowing function + the ringmod to create fake resonant peaks etc ..and the filters sound pretty great too
Renoise is amazing
Eyeball exchanging
Soul calibrating ..frequencies

Sadly, Renoise and openmpt (and any trackers that support vst afaik) don’t support MPE, at all, meaning that all the fancy note slide and vibrato command are impossible for plugins. This basically strips off the super power of trackers (and I use those commands a lot), so this is the reason why SunVox is still my main tool even I have all the fancy vst plugins.

It would be op if we could slide notes with Diva.

Renoise have scripting, but you can’t access the note fx command using the API, so you can’t really use the instrument in real time but have to sample it, which kinda breaks the purpose to have a “built in” synth because I am not a fan of converting everything into samples which is space inefficient especially if you have a complex sound made by a synth. (Same reason why I prefer physical modelling synths over sample libraries)

Let me know if I am wrong, so I can give Renoise another try.

No , you're right
Cdp is not realtime , it never was but it still sounds amazing and it has certain dsp processes not found anywhere else ( except maybe Kyma )
That being said , there are enough vst's to get you covered .

Well... This will loop back to the previous problem I have mentioned, they don't support MPE... so you can't make use of the polyphonic pitch bend by calling the note slide or vibrato command which those fx command are really the spirit of trackers, unless you sample it, but it will come in a circle which the storage overhead is huge if you have complex sounds.

Nonetheless, I will have a look to the Cdp, so see the potential.

Hey Logickin... WaxingAndWaning here... Probably not the answers you were looking for but AXS has internal synth that slides notes and also does vibrato on same but using an offbeat method-

Image

Vibrato & pitch slides in synth in this tune-

https://soundcloud.com/waxing-and-waning/pulp-friction

Pitch sliding chord down in this-

https://alonetone.com/TalkOrBell/tracks/axs-jazzmonger

Pretty sure DreamStation 1 supports pitch slide & vibrato in the synth which is nice sounding too-

Image

Though the pattern editor is rather weak for much else...

Protrekkr which unlike those first two is modern updated (2.7.0 just came out) it has CSynth which is not much don't know if much can be done I use mainly for BG sounds-chords, however the Dual 303's are quite versatile & have the bitchin' TB sound probably funnest of all-

Image

Built off the open source of Arguru's NoiseTrekker 2 it maintains original form rather than the renoise guy's who took the code & ripped it to hell... would be nice if renoise PUT the Dual 303s BACK IN!... It had already been proven by Arguru that the 303s were NOT stolen rebirth code simply by open-sourcing NT2... Yup, Propellerhead was all upset back then but on the other hand it's kind of a compliment to the Dual 303s...

Another interesting note... Most know or have used the Dreamstation Synth in some DX host at some time... The one in the Tracker version is DIFFERENT in that it has a loader for each OSC for a mono WAV, that is the sampler for the Dreamstation tracker so then samples can be processed through the synth as well...

Image

Also for whatever reason the tracker version just sounds 'better'... Sorta like the original standalone SimSynth 2.7 which sounds awesome even today, the plugin was crap....

Anybody who wants to try Dreamstation DXi or the Tracker-

https://web.archive.org/web/20150801054 ... ation.com/

Looks like wayback snapshot header/banner does not work in older browsers anymore, everything to the toilet...

So if you got say Making Waves Studio or Reaper you can use DXi, might be others currently available that still hook DX-DXi...
