If it’s the Bitwig model there are no more major releases…just a steady stream of small upgrades….thats how it works.kidslow wrote: Wed Sep 18, 2024 8:33 pm What happens if you upgrade 11 months before the next major release, would the upgrade be included in your year? They made no distinction between major releases and the one-year policy, so I assume yes.

All the naysayers when they released the hybrid sub should apply to Horse College because they were right.

Well. I guess I'm sticking with 6.x going forward. I'm not paying yearly for S1. It's not worth it.

I remember when companies offered a product for sale and you bought it. There was no need to produce a lengthy video to explain all the upgrade/update/crossgrade/perpetual/cloud based/content options.
I'm getting too old for this.

Not a fan of the bitwig model. And we are supposed to be pumped it's a perpetual license, not to mention the upgrade price is surprisingly steep for current pro users. Thumbs down.

Then why call it version 7 at all? Will they terminate on 7 or eventually just have the version number disappear into the bushes Homer Simpson style? Give me a steady enough stream of compelling additions and a periodic sale, and I might bite. Give me more instruments and unimpressive effects and I certainly won't.SLiC wrote: Wed Sep 18, 2024 9:45 pmIf it’s the Bitwig model there are no more major releases…just a steady stream of small upgrades….thats how it works.kidslow wrote: Wed Sep 18, 2024 8:33 pm What happens if you upgrade 11 months before the next major release, would the upgrade be included in your year? Version naming will be time based. And you are getting a steady stream of new features. They probably will still do sales as well.kidslow wrote: Wed Sep 18, 2024 10:53 pmThen why call it version 7 at all? "This means that Studio One Pro 7 will be our last numbered version release, and going forward, version naming will be time-based with the first of these new feature releases coming early next year."

....or wait 2-4 years until there is something you really need. Then, when you buy it, it won't be so painful. You don't need to get it every year.

Okay but I would pay $129 for two years of updates. Now it's $149 for one. Sure I don't have to update yearly but I can't help but feel like I'm getting less for a higher price. Every time they say stuff like "the features will release when they are ready", it still translates to barely two updates within the year if not just one.
