What does the Character switch in MLimiterX do?

The manual states that Crisp provides sharper results with some amount of saturation. However, after performing a harmonic analysis, both Crisp and Clean appear identical. I would like to know what their differences are.

I was investigating this a while back when I was trying to get the most neutral limiter sound. If i recall correctly, crisp has a different (better for my purposes) soft knee. I was A/B comparing the outputs using a waveform editor and crisp was doing more what I expected. I can't remember exactly though as it was over a year ago.

Something like that. Clean usually provides less distortion at the expense of slower response. In different cases you want different things. For example modern metal is often processed using a clipper instead of a limiter
