It looks amazing!
Splice integration: Not really needed due to the splice plugin, but cool to have it right in the DAW.
New sampler: I don't like the sampler they have now so any updates has to be an improvement.
Rounded clips: Like logic, personally I dig it.
Stem separation: Nice feature add.
Clip Launcher: Some people love clip launcher, me I don't use it so... eh.
Hopefully they also added middle mouse to pan? A guy can hope.
Overall, pretty hyped to try it out.

Why would you want rounded clips?
Audio segments are meant to be spliced together, punched in, overlapped, cross-faded etc.
It should represent a continuous flow of audio, like a tape.
This looks like some idiot beatmaker with the mind of a goldfish designed it.

Did they replace the vastly more useful Scratchpad with it?

I guess it depends how you think about it. You have a more old school view because you think about it more like an analog tape. I look at clips like sound blocks or containers, "units of sound" as I call it.jamcat wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 9:13 pm Why would you want rounded clips?

The round corners I think it just makes it clearer to tell how long a clip is and where it loops at a glance. I don't see how it really affects anything else you listed.

That would be unfortunate if they did get rid of Scratch pad. I like ScratchPad because I can copy my automations along with the events over.jamcat wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 9:09 pm This piece of shit on the right side with 'Scenes' must be the clip launcher?

Splice: Not needed for me. I have way too many samples as it is.rageix wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 9:10 pm It looks amazing!

New Sampler: I don't see a new Sampler. Looks like they just took Impact, split it in two and made it work inside a view like Ableton. The sampler features look the same. Unless you are looking at something else?
Rounded Corners: Don't really care. Rounded, not rounded it doesn't really matter to me. I liked the boxiness of S1 in, but they've been rounding corners since 6 came out.
Stem Separation: Meh
Clip Launcher: Cool I guess? I don't know if I'd use it, but one cool thing is that maybe that DAWProject format would make it work better with Bitwig projects?

Agreed! A bit ironic that this will add a lot more than 5 and 6 did.rageix wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 9:10 pm It looks amazing!

I do like the placement of the Clip launcher and impact view here on the right side of the screen. It should make it easier to drag and drop stuff directly from the browser vs Logic/Bitwig. Shorter mouse travel.

But the fade in/out handles on the top edges of the clips are also gone. Did they remove cross-fade functionality? It looks like a toy for playing with loops now.rageix wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 9:24 pmI guess it depends how you think about it. But unlike this, I like everything 5 and 6 added. Particularly the ability to hide any interface component. That is the one saving grace here. At least all of the new garbage can be hidden. Except maybe the rounded corners on clips.Uncle E wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 9:35 pmAgreed! Why would they remove it? How does having rounded corner mean you can't crossfade between clips? The handles probably only show if there is a fade already applied or you mouse over the clip to reveal the handles.jamcat wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 9:46 pm But the fade in/out handles on the top edges of the clips are also gone. We won't know until we get our hands on it I guess.

Presonus won't offer any midi updates to 7. Why? Because you can purchase them from HW guy. Its an extra expense for midi feature S1 should have.Uncle E wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 7:03 pmI'm missing the point, too.Spin Boyz wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 6:45 pmI think your missing the pointCrossinger wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 6:01 pmYes, because it’s a 3rd party product!Spin Boyz wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 5:47 pm I don't see them adding anything for midi. Maybe to not confuse beatmakers and loop producers who don't understand such things?

Seems I don't need V7.
I expect DAWs will get AI tools (suno, autochordify melody, write lyrics, melody generator, genre based accomp assist, autobassline, autodrummer, counterpoint composer, and whatever you guys can think you need)
When I see a DAW with those kind of tools , I might consider coins and values.

I don't record any instruments live, I construct my music.
