I wouldn't be surprised if a ST5 isn't launched in the next couple months if they're blowing it out for 50 bucks on site and a dollar on the bundle site.

I was thinking the same thing. Sampletank 5 is almost certainly right around the corner.VitaminD wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 2:51 am I wouldn't be surprised if a ST5 isn't launched in the next couple months if they're blowing it out for 50 bucks on site and a dollar on the bundle site.

$1 is still a great offer if you don't have it yet ... and given IKs history with keeping old content to blow up GB count (Miroslav 2 anyone
) I wouldn't be surprised if at least 1/2 of ST5 are indeed recycled ST4 samples

If you’ve built projects based on ST4 content and then upgrade wouldn’t you still want those ST4 presets in ST5?Nobdi wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 10:46 am $1 is still a great offer if you don't have it yet ... and given IKs history with keeping old content to blow up GB count (Miroslav 2 anyone) I wouldn't be surprised if at least 1/2 of ST5 are indeed recycled ST4 samples

That opens up a totally different can of worms
-> does the ST5 engine sound the same as the ST4 one ? Do they change anything to make it sound differently?
Which would make it saver in the end to have both ST4 and ST5 installed which could lead to wasting disk space by having the same samples twice (who guarantees that ST5 uses the same folder structure)
...anyway - way to much talking about $1

Arrr. It not be about the finances but about the intermingling of the software into ye workflow. 1 gold doubloon or 1000, ye still be bringing a new swabbie aboard ye music ship. And that swabbie will forever be included in wherever the wind be sailin ye. Make careful choices on who you recruit for ye crew.

FWIW, when they released ST4, they kept the ST3 engine intact, and ST3 presets, when loaded in ST4, do in fact still use it. Obviously the effects implementation is vastly different between them, but that aside, I never owned ST3 (have only owned versions 1, 2, and 4), so I can't verify whether presets sound exactly the same.Nobdi wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 3:31 pm That opens up a totally different can of worms

On the topic of blowout pricing, I wouldn't read too much into it. It's kinda their thing... I picked up basically their whole catalog for just over $100 in a group buy a couple years ago.
