Is there something obvious that would prevent this javascript from working in Linux, once the batch file is adapted to reflect a Linux path ?

I'm not experienced with Linux but basically, I think: yes. But on Linux, you would use a bash script, wouldn't you? If you have something working on Linux please let me know and I'm happy to include an adapted Linux script in the GitHub releases.
