Kick 2 KICK 3

Post

im very interested in kick3 and watched the overview video, so you can kinda (depends on the loop of course) import/analyze the Kick of a loop? really cool, how good is it with e.g. GABBA or industrial loops/kicks?

can you do maybe a good 808 tutorial? this would be also good promo i think for all beatmakers to check how to do hard 808s :).

appreciate it!

Heres a quick workflow of hardstyle kicks in Kick 3.... will have a look at the 808 thing next

Here’s some 808 workflow

I believe a valuable enhancement for Kick 3 would be the addition of an intelligent randomization feature. This feature could offer users the ability to generate subtle variations or entirely new kick sounds through a percentage-based randomization slider, ranging from 1% to 100%. By adjusting this slider, we could introduce nuanced changes or more drastic alterations to the kick's parameters, without needing to manually adjust numerous settings all the time. This would streamline the sound design process, allowing for quicker experimentation and creativity.

I have honestly never been a huge fan of randomisation features in synths etc. In my mind its goes against the philosophy of why i make stuff... which is to have more control over my ideas and really dial in the sounds im hearing in my head. Maybe sure thats just me... if we get enough requests for this type of feature i would be happy to look in to it.

Is there an option to offset the layers in time? And with 808s can you do key tracking but only for the tail, not the transient (which you can control the length)?

Yeah i showed the selective key tracking in the video above!!

It's great, i just watched it. The only thing missing now is the offset which is really important imo, so please consider adding that.

In the current build you can rotate the phase of the sub and move the start point of the click... the next build will allow you to add a delay in to the click too.

I respect your position here and generally speaking I don't make use of randomisation when building patches, so under different circumstances I would agree with you, but personally I find the process of making a kick quite tedious and more importantly, very fatiguing on my ears and I think some well implemented randomisation features would help a lot with this and would likely increase my useful output from the synth.

My workflow would look something like this:

Design a kick like normal then save as>randomise>save as>...etc. to build up a palette of variations and then cycle through them to cherry pick the best of the bunch and then possibly refine the choice patch/es even further thereafter, resulting in the ultimate kick/s, without losing the will to the live

It's not super high on my list of features and I'm going to upgrade with or without it, but if you don't ask (or support others asking) you don't get :)

My new Kick 3 workflow is... find a track with a nice kick... analyse it... done. lol

I completely understand and respect that perspective. For me, randomization serves as a valuable supplemental tool, allowing for exploration of new ideas and variations without sacrificing the precision that comes with a manual approach. I’ve shifted almost entirely towards instruments and effects that offer randomization—not out of laziness, but because it helps spark creativity when it’s needed most. In many of my projects, particularly when working with multiple variations of a specific sound (such as in film underscoring, sound design, or generative ambient music), randomization has been a key asset. It enables me to discover possibilities that I might not have found through repetitive manual adjustments, ultimately speeding up experimentation and opening creative pathways that would be difficult to achieve otherwise.

If you don’t share this view and decide not to implement randomization, I would suggest at least making all parameters fully automatable and visible to the DAW. This way, users can leverage external tools and modifiers to achieve similar effects and have more flexibility in customizing their workflow. Thank you

Can't argue with that

Are we going to start seeing producers watermarking their kicks, so that when you import them, it spells out [naughty cuss words that you can't say on KVR] in the curve editors :hihi:

Could you do it for the sub too?

What is it you would need to do that using phase rotation or amp env cant do for the sub?
