Thanks Michael L! I am familiar with plugin overload, but in this case the plugs are pretty minimal - just two Kontakts (reporting about 3% CPU each) and a drum sequencer. LP2 is pretty great with its routing capabilities, but I would never be able to replicate the Mulab environment using just LP2.

There are so many factors!Protocol_b wrote: Mon Sep 30, 2024 9:24 pmThanks Michael L! I am familiar with plugin overload, but in this case the plugs are pretty minimal - just two Kontakts (reporting about 3% CPU each) and a drum sequencer.
For example, I can overload one of my six cores with the right Bioscape preset and lots of notes if my Kontakt 6 settings let voices add up: https://vi-control.net/community/thread ... on.135575/

Understood
. In my case, I can leave the sequence looping with no new notes input, and it may happen in 5 minutes, maybe after an hour - just suddenly, zzzzzap!

I have also limited each Kontakt instrument to just a few voices. Having read the thread at your link though, it may be a core problem nonetheless - Mutools here has indicated that Mulab Plug uses just a single core.

The only issues I've found with drop outs are:
1. Need more CPU.
2. Multi-threading conflict. (i believe I was playing with Pigments.)
Anything like what you're seeing, you should disable plugins until the offender is found. Then, try different patches. Certain types of modulation can kill a CPU.

I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

Audiostrohm are unable to isolate the issue, though it occurs only with their product. Seeking another host, looking into Studio One. Experiencing another kind of failure there - I'll start a new thread - thanks!

Just curious: What kind of music do you make: Rather multi-track audio recording or rather electronic using synths and samplers?Seeking another host
