What is the VST3 doing there? Or even the VST2? VST2 may be older but not worse...

Idk ... what does your tests of Six Traq in Bitwig show? May be kraftraum can test this?
Can I simply delete the CLAP version and replace it with VST3?

Post

Try it, I don't have much experience with Bitwig. :(

I've tried to "replace" the clap version by the vst3 version ...
Result when loading the project which was started with the clap version, Bitwig reports: Plug-in missing

Post

That's sad. Not sure why hosts cannot do this, but that has been discussed extensively elsewhere AFAIK...

Just for the record. I haven't had any issues except for a few hanging notes. Using Win 10, Reaper 7.22, 64-bit CLAP.
That said, the UI is quite quirky (intentional for nostalgia I guess), so there may be real issues that I thought were just "by design".
I ended up dropping programs, banks and presets and just tweak stuff on each DAW track. Loads fine, when the project loads. It sounds the same as where I left it.
Since it is a simple synth, most of my sound design is made with DAW automation and LFOs anyway, so I barely use the UI.

I propose a mini-challenge, which is good fun:
Use the Stack to make an 80s orchestral hit! :phones:

I've already made one, of course, and it's pretty neat! :hihi:
...but I don't want to spoil the fun, in case you'd like to jump on it, too. 8)

Nice one ...
You can set the synth to "Unison" mode. But this is a special unison mode ... because it consist actually of 6 different patches. These are only "unison" if you keep the "link" setting active. The link setting applies all changes you do to any of the patches to the other 5 aas well. But you can unset "link". This allows you to edit each patch aka "voice of your unison stack" individually. For instance you can set different filter settings for patches 1 to 6.
Try to set different filter cutoffs, set the rather close together, so like in a range 60 - 80. Use rather high resonance on each of them. And finally turn up the OSC-MOD a little. The result was a nice metalic sound. Or you can use this to dial in Formant-Frequencies F1,F2,F3 to three of the patches and set the rest to volume zero (here's a table: https://www.classes.cs.uchicago.edu/arc ... able3.html)
If you don't hear pitch perfectly as I do. You can use a EQ to tune the cutoff of the filter to the specific frequency (set resonance very high that the peak is easily visible). And close enough is good enough for the formants to form a Vowel. After tuning the frequencies I did reset the resonance to 41. Final step adjust the volumes of the different patches in the "Config" Tab.

Post

Uh, now I want to hear that, hehe. I'll have to give it a try! :tu:
But, yeah, the fun thing with the "Link" feature is that you can turn that on and off at any point to adjust a single parameter across all instances!
In other words, let's say you made 6 different patches in the stack, but now you want to adjust Velocity for all of them, just turn on "link" and dial up the velocity.

I really love that setup and it does invite a sequel to SixTraq with all the dream-come-true additions, hehe. Björn! :hyper:
I honestly have already started really liking this thing, now that it feels pretty stable here, too.

@full bucket - downloaded this last night to give a try and i gotta say i'm always impressed that your plugins clock in at a few MB?! other devs take note! really awesome analog sound from this. can't say i've used the original but man it felt like turning knobs on some classic gear, awesome work

Post

Hey guys! I started playing with Six-Traq today and thought I would try to create a one-instance piece. I tried to automate the General Parameters "Track Prg 1-6" in Cakewalk to be able to switch programs on the individual tracks, but it doesn't seem to work as expected - sometimes it doesn't respond to the automation data at all or with a huge delay. Has anyone experimented with this? Or maybe @Björn can advise if it's a techically viable approach at all?

Post

I did a quick test in Cakewalk automating the Track 1 and 2 Program parameters and it works fine. Not sure what you are doing. Do you have the "Link Programs" parameters deactivated?
For more information I would definitely need a project file...

Post

Thanks for the quick reply, Björn! See the attached project file. Basically, my naive idea is that for track 1, program 40 would be selected at the start of bar 2, and then at the start of bar 3 it would switch to program 25 - i.e. the ability to change programs in a track in real time.

Ghost And Cheese
The year is 1981, and the disco is alive with the vibrant energy of Halloween night. The dance floor is a sea of costumes, from classic vampires and witches to the latest pop culture icons. The DJ, dressed as a futuristic robot, proudly showcases his brand new Roland TB-303, a synthesizer that promises to revolutionize the sound of the night. As he tweaks the knobs, the room fills with hypnotic, pulsating beats that make the crowd move in unison.

In the corner of the disco, an arcade machine stands as silent sentinel, its screen glowing with the sight of a yellow, cheese-like character being chased by ghosts. The game, a recent hit, draws a small crowd of enthusiasts eager to beat the high score. The clinking of quarters and the excited shouts of players blend seamlessly with the music, creating a symphony of sound that defines the era.

A group of friends take turns at the arcade machine, laughing and cheering each other on. Among them, a few are dressed as ghosts, their white sheets fluttering as they move. One person stands out in a bright yellow cheese costume, drawing amused glances and playful comments from the crowd. The DJ, noticing their enthusiasm, decides to mix in some of the game’s iconic sounds into his set, causing a ripple of nostalgia and excitement to spread through the crowd.

As the night progresses, a girl dressed as a pink ghost finds herself dancing closer to the yellow cheese. Their laughter is infectious, and their eyes meet frequently, each glance lingering a little longer than the last. The chemistry between them is undeniable, as they move closer, their hands brushing and smiles widening. The music swells, and they lose themselves in the rhythm, feeling as if they are the only two people in the room. As the final song plays, they share a knowing smile, realizing that this magical Halloween night has brought them together in a way they never expected. With a promise to meet again, they part ways, each carrying the memory of this unforgettable night in their hearts.

"After finding out my boyfriend cheated on me, I take my white Testarossa for a late afternoon ride on Ocean Drive to clear my mind. Time to move on."

Hi all,

This is my first time participating to this kind of challenge (or any challenge, for that matter), so let me know if something isn't right. I used quite a few Analog Obsession plugins, seemed on brand for the synth, but everything in light touches, except maybe the delay on the lead :)

FL Studio 24
Technically, 13 instances of the synth (I say "technically", because 5 of them are actually the same drumkit with only one of the sounds used on each instance, I made my life a bit easier rather than figuring out how to configure the MIDI channels assignments)

Plugin List:
Britpressor (Analog Obsession)
FetCB (Analog Obsession)
dbComp (Analog Obsession)
TRAX (Analog Obsession)
CITE (Analog Obsession)
LOADES (Analog Obsession)
FETish (Analog Obsession)

Luxeverb (FL Studio)
Low Lifter (FL Studio)
Transient Processor (FL Studio)
EQUO (FL Studio)
Fruity Delay 3
Fruity Fast Dist
Fruity Multiband Compressor
Fruity Stereo Enhance
Fruity Delay 2
Fruity Blood Overdrive
Fruity Soft Clipper
Fruity Parametric EQ 2
Fruity Reeverb 2

MSaturator (MeldaProduction Audio)
Mautopan (MeldaProduction Audio)

KSHMR Essentials Kick (W.A. Production)

Valhalla Supermassive

Hope you enjoy! It was a lot of fun to make.
