Yeah now that they're native, it's just the 'waiting game' haha. I've switched over to their API strip anyways, but I still want those SSL's so I can get rid of my old Waves plugs once and for all (might have some old projects still using the Brainworx E/G too which is long gone from my Mac).

Seems like UA is kindof a crappy company to deal with if you use the HW. And i guess they
wont honor 2nd hand sales.

hearing a lot of horror stories lately. Like
after your 1 yr warranty in HW, you are out
of luck if you have a prob. I wont buy the
HW anymore...

That's not a horror story, that's how warranties work and its been that way since the day the 'warranty' was invented.. A Mac only comes with a 1 year warranty. You don't see people up in arms about that, its the way it is.

jamcat wrote: Wed Oct 09, 2024 2:40 am The bundle of both SSL plugins is $49.99 for new users, which is pretty good. $25 per.
$9.99 to upgrade an existing DSP-powered bundle.

What's new: side-chaining
WTF I've been waiting for these two so I can finally get rid of my last Waves plugs. I never got an email for it and its $200 for the bundle for me???
Yeah, so if you already own one of the SSL plugins, it’s $49.99. If you own both you get a coupon to apply that turns it into $9.99 at checkout. If you own neither SSL, it’s $199.99 for the bundle. I was looking at the regular upgrade price and thought it was the price for everyone.

BS, they should offer in the least,
a paid service option. Reports are a $200 charge to even look at anything, and its impossible to find any info on this, since
they dont have any info on it on their site.
Macs, dont generally die after a year and
a half, seems like UA pedals and such do.
When theres no reason they shouldnt last
for years beyond crappy qc.

There are even laws in place depending
on where you live, that hold manufacturers
to standing by the quality of their products
even outside the warranty. To protect consumers from shoddy manufacturing.

As an employee of one of the larger display manufactures who handles this stuff every day (actually doing it right now in another browser window), I am well aware of how the law works regarding this, its my job. And you can be assured that UA is also very well aware and is doing everything by the book just the same.

$200 sounds about 'average'. Its about the same price for an evaluation with us for an out of warranty product as well.. When it comes to an out of warranty product with no support, you are taking time away from those products that are still covered, along with the rest of the day to day operations. Someone has to pay for it, and its no longer the manufacturer at that point. Any independent electronics repair shop will charge a similar 'evaluation' fee.

50 % the cost of a new pedal, just to look
at it. Sounds great.

Yea thats why you cant resell your individual plugins, which is clearly counter to EU law.

Definitely they are super concerned about the laws and such no doubt.

*btw what company do u work for mothra?
id like to know so i never buy anything
from them. thx.

I own prob $10k worth of pedals, pretty
much every other manufacturer will fix
them if anything ever goes wrong, for
either a nominal fee of a parts charge.
If they even charge at all. Because
they stand by their products fully.

That's not how warranty works here in Finland (and I suspect all of EU).

Eyeing the new Signature Bundle 2. I have the original Signature Bundle, so the price I see on the UAD site is $199. That's not bad for the new SSL stuff, Manley Vari-Mu, Ampex ATR-102. Twelve new plugins according to the marketing blurb.

Yes - thankfully this isn't the Wild West.

Surely a good deal if you just own Signature Edition 1 and haven't bought anything else since then.

I bought Manley Vari-Mu, Ampex ATR-102 and Verve Analog Machines separately after buying Signature Edition 1, so I am just evaluating if $199 is worth it for me, especially considering I am only partially interested in Topline Vocal Suite, SSL 4000 G Bus Compressor, SSL 4000 E Channel Strip, and LA-6176 Signature Channel Strip from the new ones.

Only unique thing really is the Topline Vocal Suite, as I have equivalents of the SSL and LA-6176 is probably not essential since I have many channel strips including the other UA ones.

Guess it may be better to wait for $39 deals on these plugins. Black Friday is not that far.

Any further thoughts?
