Attila, is it possible to fix something with the plugin graphics? On my old MacBook, this picture often changes and returns only after rebooting DAW .. Thanks.

This is annoying because I have no idea why this happens. Did you set the rendering driver to 'software' ? That is the most reliable, because OpenGL or Metal rendering may have issues on older macs.

I have so far only been able to observe replacement in the whole composition.

It seems to me like prior selection of a part or line is being ignored, but perhaps I'm not doing that correctly. So, if you know it's working, please advise me on the correct steps to pre-select a line or part and have that be the target of the replacement (without perturbing the rest of the composition).

Yes, you are right, this is a bit confusing. In order to make a part or line 'active' you must double-click on it in the structure menu.

So, the desire is to have all the clips arrive with their individual names (per the progression). This is accomplished by writing those names (the phrase names) as the track name inside the MIDI file.

Separately -

I'm observing a failure to analyze chords in the MIDI import process.

Thanks for attaching the file! The problem was that "Import MIDI markers as chords" were enabled but the MIDI markers in the file were not proper chord names (Measure:0, Measure:1, etc).
I sort of fixed this by checking the markers, and falling back to chord detection when they are not valid chord names.
There was another minor issue which was also fixed: when the first track(s) of a MIDI file are empty, they are ignored instead of handling them as an empty track.

Hi Attila. Maybe you can explain to me what is going on.. Inside DP 11.32, when I drag a midi file onto the master track of the RC plugin for a new progression, two problems arise.. 1. Or I drag a midi file onto the master track and release the mouse, then the new progression just disappears, does not stay on the master track (This is mainly in the standalone program). 2. Or the plugin has problems with long midi files.. When dragging a midi file onto the master track, a warning appears..... And DP hangs and does not respond to anything.

I tried the plug-in with DP11 on macOS 14.4, but I was able to close the "Extend composition length?" alert window. You should be able to click on "OK", or "Cancel".
You are right about the disappearing progression. This bug was introduced in the beta versions with the improved audio file dragging on tracks but is fixed now.

Use backslashes ('\') for groups.

I now think that my posts on this subject are the result of a fundamental user error on my part. To wit, I completely spaced-out on the Group: field, which of course is the actual way those progression "directories" are denominated and defined.

P.S. Now I'm left wondering how you guys are using those backslashes. IOW, where and why?

Hi.

I notice that when I drag .mid files into the Prg tab of the Browser, they always seem to arrive 1 beat short.

IOW, a 32 measure file arrives as 127 beats, instead of the appropriate 128 beats.

I fixed this embarrassing bug today. I'll build an update shortly.

Please do not enter the group in the name field. Instead use the 'group' field, e.g. My\Lovely\Group
The forward and backslashes are very tricky to handle because 'names' are actual file names, so they should not collide with file system characters, so some of these special characters are translated to a different one in the file name... This is handled on both Windows and macOS.

I am answering the previous post. I have it like this... Ctrl+Alt+Shift drags a midi file from a track with the track name and the same key combination drags from a phrase, but always with the same name RapidComposer Phrases. I think that there should be a name of a specific phrase here.

Good point, lulukom and sj1, I am going to fix this.

• Improved MusicXML chord import (more fail-safe and diminished chords recognized)
• Dropping MIDI or progressions on the master track works again
• MIDI import improvements (skip empty tracks, fix 1 beat shorter files)
• "Create composition from progressions" names the track according to the first progression
• "Save selected phrases (replace mode)" added to overwrite phrases in the library
• Fixed: percussion generator presets work now
• Fixed a percussion track note selection issue in note editing mode
• MusicXML export fixes (still not always imported into GP8, this is a WIP)
• Preprocessing guitar phrases before converting them to tab (checking for polyphony greater than the string count and fixing it)
