T2: Anyone else getting that sinking feeling?

We're 3 or 4 updates into Mackie's reveal of the T2 features now. Is anybody else starting to get that sinking feeling? I have to say that I'm not "wowed" yet, because most of those features don't apply to my needs.

I don't have Mackie controls, I don't work in broadcast (or swap projects with people who do), I don't have external HD recorders. Mackie seem to be trying to pitch Tracktion to the "professional" end of the market, which frankly I think is laughable given the price bracket that Tracktion belongs in (unless a massive price hike is coming, too, to make it look more "serious").

It's probably all too late, but unless some features start appearing that actually have some relevance for a one-person home-studio hobbyist like myself (and a lot of you here), I seriously have to wonder if I'll even bother to upgrade. And if a lot of people feel that way, T2 could be perceived as a failure, and we know where that path leads.

Well, what more do you want? I'm sure we're going to get some big midi/piano roll re-work towards the end (wouldn't you save the best/biggest for last?) some of the big bugs worked out. I mean hell I'm happy with Tracktion 1. I'm sure a this is kinda minor stuff for now...it'll get better I'm sure.

Actually, no, I'd mix it up, before too many people stopped bothering to look because they've lost interest, and before too many people start writing discouraged messages on forums about how the T2 upgrade is starting to look like it's not worth bothering with

Let's have this conversation again when all of the features have been released.

That sounds uncomfortable. Go see a physician. It might not be your pebbles after all, it might be a hernia!!

Actually yes I do have the sinking feeling, and no at the same time because to be honest with you, any tracktion update will be good for me.

*sigh* the groundhoggin never seems to end.

I would speculate the following:

1. T2 will be announced/released in 15 days at NAMM.

2. T2 was feature-frozen over a month ago, and so became a beta, and now only bug fixes are allowed. So we can all just STFU about adding new features.

3. The major changes have already been published on the "official" features list. It's a strip tease because the stripper wants to keep you interested, DUH!

4. For those not using Mackie hardware, a big yawn is highly appropriate.

For me, the step editor appears to be the only real value add, and to be worth the upgrade $$, it had better be good...we'll see.

I'm sure there are other goodies yet to be revealed which may be more interesting(say, the improvement of MIDI editing/rack filter are not mentioned yet). But it's also clear that their targeted customer group has shifted. It remains to be seen whether they'll treat T2 as an accessory to their hardware, or would they really want to sell T2 as a software - that will be reflected on the pricing.

I guess Mackie would rekon the integration with hardware and all the flashy techy gimmick to be much more important than anything else. So far the feature list is in line with that.

hence our sinking feeling.

T2 will be the cute and sexy blue-eyed stubbly brunet guy everyone always wanted, who would graciously and friendly-like sleep in the same bed and even put its arm platonically around one
