Current has a full fixed set of integrated effects (Effects are also available as separate plugins).sacer wrote: Thu Oct 24, 2024 8:50 am How is it if I buy presets, will they work inside current if some effects are missing or do I have all of their fx in current and they sell these fx only for use outside of current? Now I checked Current - this synth is not for me. I don't like the factory sounds or any sound i can found in it. And I don't see much important new feature in v2, i have the same opinion that was with v1 last year.... Maybe I will like v3 - see you next year!

In terms of effects Current has everything built in. Everything in the synth is fully functional. There are no additional purchases required.sacer wrote: Thu Oct 24, 2024 8:50 am How is it if I buy presets, will they work inside current if some effects are missing or do I have all of their fx in current and they sell these fx only for use outside of current? Standalone effects need to be bought seperately.

How long is the intro period? I'm going to need some time to decide.

Am I wrong to assume that All-Access subscribers get this for free?

ignore my post above about a free year of All Access, on the Discord Ben said that was canceled because it was "causing confusion"
Meanwhile my account shows this (apparently this is a bug and they are looking into it) What's confusing is this company's takes on things
Current is a great synth but the price of all this is just confusing. I'm spending my credits on wavetables I guess and then I'm done.

PB says 31st, but on their Discord they claim longer than that, but don't give specificsJiggSaw wrote: Thu Oct 24, 2024 1:03 pm How long is the intro period? I'm going to need some time to decide.

What format of wavetables does it use? Is it possible to import?

How many pages of this thread were already wasted on Minimal Audio's tone-deafness towards pricing when they first released Current? Do we have to do this again?Koldunya wrote: Thu Oct 24, 2024 5:05 pm What's confusing is this company's takes on things

This is Minimal Audio's statement about the fact that All Access subscribers have to spend $140+ to buy Current with store credits when new users can just buy it for $100.
That's a ridiculous explanation, to me- it's not like they reduce the cost of All Access based on what you own.We believe both options provide great value, but they are designed to meet different needs. The All Access plan offers unlimited access to everything, plus store credit, while our sales are great for those who prefer to own individual products without a subscription.
When you purchase a product using store credit, you’re also paying for the time you spent with All Access. When you buy it through a sale, you’re not.

Yes you can import any wav wavetables or other wav file-individually or as a folder. Imported tables get converted to current’s own formatAlexander137 wrote: Thu Oct 24, 2024 5:55 pm What format of wavetables does it use? Is it possible to import?

Yeah, agreed. I think most of the all access folks (myself included) are outraged. But on the good news side of things, the Current 2 thread on Gearspace was deleted. So perhaps they're re-evaluating yet again, and going to offer something of a better deal to their users.Igelhaft wrote: Thu Oct 24, 2024 6:41 pm That's a ridiculous explanation, to me- it's not like they reduce the cost of All Access based on what you own.
I'm on the fence. I don't like their business model, but I've been an all access person since the start and have $165 in credits. 2 more months and I could get Current even at their full price.
I've been re-evaluating it for this reason after having given up on it for sonic reasons last year--and I'm starting to take a liking to it.
BUT, I honestly am so turned off by their business strategy that I'd almost prefer to cancel. What were they expecting to happen? Why not give more value to incentivize their all access members to say on, rather than make us regret being members of all access?

I feel you. It's a capable decent synth. Albeit I loathe its "busy" cluttered-looking user interface.dune_rave wrote: Thu Oct 24, 2024 9:52 am Now I checked Current - this synth is not for me. Even though I bought and still own a perpetual licence for v1 of Current after its re-launch, I find myself never really using this synth. And instead prefer using the much cleaner, clearer and uncluttered UI of Phase Plant. which I use much more often (although, that synth also has poor factory presets).
However on the subject of the factory presets, Current's factory presets are truly abysmal. All style over substance with extremely limited suitability for most musical genres. When I initally went through the factory presets after installing Current, I found myself deleting between 80% to 90% of the presets, which is unheard of for me, for any other synth I've ever had. And I only delete a preset if it's clear that it's something I would never use in any project I make. Since I'm a bit of a hoarder by nature, and so keep even fringe use-case sounds, just in case they might be useful once in blue moon. Not with Current's presets ... straight in the trash can.
It's clear Minimal Audio's approach is to try to wow people with, "look at all of these wacky sound designer type effects our synth can make ... Sign up to our All Pass subscription service now, to access another bajillion unusable sounds!"
Current is a powerful and very capable synth for creating your own sounds from scratch, if you can live with its gaudy, flashy, cluttered UI. Although, I much prefer Phase Plant's clean and user friendly workflow and UI myself.
