got it for 50eur 2nd hand.
I use it for "dirtying up" drums.
Best plugin for that ever

What host is that? The GUI looks marvelously clean&tidy.
its logic...i customized it to look as minimalistic as possible! good part of the clean impression comes from the hidden grid lines (possible via shortcut) imo, which makes it feel even more like a blank canvas. i also can hide the control bar via shortcut and turn off snap to grid and completely forget about bpm and move around audio clips freely.. makes it feel really 'unmathematical' and playful.
tbh I didn't even notice the missing grid-lines (but now that you mention it - yeah, very nice indeed)... I am especially impressed by the clean track-headers and the tidy top-bar - very tasteful indeed.

It does look good. I own GR6, but GR7 is free and I'm not sure it will do this. I'm not even sure it has all the presets. I'll play around tonight and see.

How is GR7 free?

I think he means the player. It has a few presets and instruments for free.

I guess it is the Player. I don't remember if I got v6 as a standalone or if it even came as a standalone. Most everything relies on the Player now. I'm glad I bought Massive as a standalone.

You could simply have a look if it shows a player label. The full version is simply called Guitar Rig 7. There is a free player version, with a limited number of presets, and not all effects are available. And there is the full version. With all the bells and whistles :)

It just says Guitar Rig 7. No Player, no Reaktor or Kontakt. The smallest I can resize is 75%. It does fit.

Do you have the Izotope MPS6 by any chance?

Had Guitar Rig 7 LE for a while and just picked up the full version yesterday.
I'll be using it mostly as a multi fx unit and not so much for guitar stuff, I say that as a pretty good metal rhythm guitarist, I'm finding it harder to dial in a decent chuggy rhythm tone compared to Amplitube 5 which I know inside out.
The Marshall amps in Amplitube are something special, the Brit Silver (Silver Jubilee) being my favorite but there are many other amps in Amplitude that are spot on. There's a certain sound to good metal rhythm distortion and in GR7 I'm finding the hi-gain tones to be a bit muddy and undefined in that regard. Will need more time with the new amps in the full version but it really shouldn't be something that takes much time to set up.
Have tried some other ampsims that sounded amazing with no tweaking whatsoever such as the ML Sound 'Amped Plugins' collection.
Still, Guitar Rig 7 has many other uses, It's a fantastic piece of software overall.

I kinda feel like Native Instruments is shooting themselves in the foot a bit by continuing to call this "Guitar Rig". If I had little use for amp simulations and didn't know much about it, I probably wouldn't give it a second look. But it's filled with unique and useful effects for any genre, and the routing options give you a lot of freedom to get pretty wild with it.

It's basically NI's full effects suite in one contained package, so it just feels a little weird and limiting to still call it "Guitar Rig". But I guess maybe it's a big seller for them, so possibly they figured it's more valuable to keep the name at this point.

It’s a great multi effects plugin but I wish it had better sidechain routing options for the compressors.

I think you're right. When I was trying to rationalise my plugin usage, I found a lot of one-offs I had could be replaced by something in GR, radio freq distortion etc. It is a very comprehensive suite, I think the full ReplicaXT and Molekular are the only external NI effects I use now.

As a really shite guitarist :) I found some of the more metal sims ok for my occasional usage but switch to things like kuassa matchlock for my more bread and butter fender-ish clean tones, I'd say the GR ones are ok if you're planning on swamping them in effects but lack a bit naked.

Bingo. Such a shame it’s not snappier to load. I like having things all in one place like GR and have done away with the need for any other (3rd party or otherwise) delay, reverb, filter etc.

No. I'm looking at it and I have a few of those. I swear I bought GR as a standalone, but I can't even remember if v6 was offered as a standalone. Replika is a standalone. I got Supercharger as a standalone but see it's in GR7 now. I have Komplete 13, so I don't know if it came with that. Most of the synths I bought now rely on Reaktor 6 player, but I bought them with Reaktor 5, except Massive which I bought as a standalone. So no Massive X for me, but I get GR 7.
Love GR but wish they'd bring back Kore.
