Nice update . I switched from EzDrummer2 to AddictiveDrums2 a couple years ago or so this is nice to see this 2.5 update . I have NOT bought XO or Life yet , but find those products interesting maybe they'll have some sort of update that'll make me purchase them .

I've given it a whirl and it seems like a huge leap forward. I've previously used AD2 mostly used for the great sounds and not much else, but the redesign was a welcome invitation to explore some of the workflow possibilities. Not sure how much of it might have been there already tbh but either way I'm loving what I am finding.
For instance, the new design of the beat page seems to be an absolute weapon. A huge part of my workflow was making small tweaks in the Midi, moving a beat here and there. All in all very time consuming. The beat transform can hopefully automate a bunch of that. I love for example how you can tweak the emphasis of the 8th notes and things like that. Not sure how much I'll end up using it, but it felt really powerful to edit the entire Midi file as opposed to individual notes.
Looking forward to exploring the other stuff in more depth as well.

Seriously nice update. The visual refresh was needed because the UI was clunky. I didn’t understand why they kept the look through version 2, so this is nice.
I still need to play around with the new features, but I’m enjoying the surprise free refresh.

Nice free update, the GUI was 10 years outdated, the sounds are still on top with ezdrummer 3.
They could optimize the groove player with Ai - to make new stuff from owned midi packs

Nice seeing AD2 getting some love! And not a bad little update! It's been my main drum tool since forever but the last few years I've been worried that it might have been abandoned.

Yes I was concerned as well. I own all of their AD2 libraries and was hoping we'd see an AD3. This free update is appreciated. I am thinking we'll see more detailed kits in the future now that they have modernized the interface.

And finally a new ADpak!

This is what makes the 2.5 update all worth it for me personally.
That ADPak sounds really good, the previous ones are very dated and not nearly as good as the SD3 banks imho.

Fun kit. Love the dry sets.
I’ll probably add this one on later.
Hopefully this is a sign of more things to come.

What do you mean by "dated" exactly?zvenx wrote: Tue Oct 29, 2024 1:22 pm

The new one does seem designed to fit more easily into more electronic or discrete-sample-based contemporary styles than the other acoustic kits. And provide more potential control for shaping the sound of individual kit pieces or hits. Some of the really dry sounds in the audio demos sound very unappealing to me---it's like they're excessively simple and bland, though "interesting" in the sense that they almost sound unnatural because they're so dead---but there are some I do like, and of course more of the room (or other reverb) can be added in.
I like that they're releasing new AD packs, and considering how they can be used in more electronic or overtly sample-based styles.

if you play a 'cello' patch on a Korg M1 vs a string patch on a spitfire library I mean.. dated..
old technology...which sounded good at the time, but technology has moved on in leaps and bounds so you can tell it is a lower, much lower quality..
same thing.

Live Dead .... a nice addition to the their library. I can see this working well for stripped down coffee house styles .

This was made for me, but that price is...not an insta-buy let's say.
Do XLN have Black Friday sales?

Yes, they have sales, usually 50% off I think.
I’m waiting for this kit to be on sale as well, but I can wait until next year if they don’t add it in the next sales, some companies don’t discount the newer products when sales come up soon after release, not sure about XLN.
Encouraging to see progress on AD2 for sure, I like the update/new GUI.
