Is that possible with Melda tools to have a delay with, say, 8 taps and have the taps panned individually or even have their positions automated?

Yes. You can use Tabbed inside MTurbodelay. It has 8 delay taps. You can also use the ER section of MTurboreverb for delay taps, but they can't be too long.

Oktafon too. It's a fun delay. :)

I do own a license for MXXX. Bought it mainly to support great developers like MeldaProduction. ;-)

Vojtech, do you mind if I send you a PM, asking a few questions regarding panning techniques, etc. I'm trying to achieve with MXXX?

You can use a normal Modulator and draw any shape you want for the LFO, including step sequences. From there, set your rate and phase and link it to the pan knob. If you need even more control, you can use MXXX and create several individual delays, via a number of methods, and pan each tap individually. A multiparameter could help you control spread, etc.

I'd love to be able to read about these questions here, and possibly more so Vojtech's positive answers (be prepared, typically negative initially but given time...) or other fellow Melda users' comments and ideas about them.

Nspace: Okay, you're right. Questions like that ought to be asked and answered in the public, thus potentially serving other users and offloading some burden off Vojtech, by him not answering similar questions.

So... What if one would like to do that multi tap panning in 3D (via, say, 7th order Ambisonics or binaurally), how would you approach it with Melda? Are you first supposed to encode the signal to Ambisonics with the IEM toolkit (or similar) and load MTurboDelay onto a 64-channel track?

Are the ready-made delay devices (Oktafon, Tabbed, etc.) still relevant in such case (being quite rigidly designed for L/R channel panorama) or the only sensible option is to create your own device within MXXX?
