I was using the new 2.5 update earlier and noticed the little button on the compressor module and wondered if it had always been there, and I'd never noticed it. :o

Actually reading the bumf tells me that it is in fact the new 'boost' mode. Very nice!

It's of course perfectly fine if this assessment/distinction works for you - but it doesn't align with the facts in any way.
Always funny when people think that everyone else has opinions and they have facts. Bother to mention the facts or at least explain?

What?

I wasn't the one making the wild, completely unfounded claims but now I'm the one who's gotta put proof on the table?

Nah, I don't think so - both companies have pretty informative websites on their products - if you are interested you can look it all up yourself. ;-)

There's nothing to debate here.

Well, someone was putting out an opinion (which I found not unreasonable, but I don't have the other drum VST to compare) and you said they don't match up with facts. Having opinions should be fine, right?

I'd at least be interested why you think they don't fit the facts and what facts you think are on the table.

It wasn't an opinion, it was claims (claims that are super easy to fact-check on the companies' websites I already mentioned) - if you can't tell one from the other there's absolutely no point in me wasting a single further word on you.

Whilst I would be the first to say that size doesn't mean everything, for sure there is a correlation.

In the ToonTrack ones the ones in the yellow rectangle are the SD3 generation ones, the others (except the EZ) are SD2 generation ones.

on the XLN side
ADAP 1067 - Vintage Dead
ADAP 1063- United Pop
ADAP 1066 - Boutique Mallets
ADAP 1053 - Modern Jazz Sticks

And yes I know XLN uses high level compression on their stuff...

Another vote here for the Vintage Dead expansion for Addictive Drums 2. Have been really enjoying this recently on some new tracks we're writing away from my drum kit. Pretty wonderful.

Post

I've got "Vintage Dead" with the current promo and it just sounds awesome. Thumbs up!

Yep the pre-black Friday deal on vDead is a no brainer.
I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I do.

And so good with some external FX too.

Sometimes it pays not to be an early adopter. I waited, but thought they may not discount it just yet - but they did! Haven’t had a chance to dig into it yet, other than quickly checking the unprocessed sounds, liking it so far.

I'm definitely getting the vintage dead kit. I've been using AD for years now. It's carried most of my drum needs for many years especially when working for clients and to quick deadlines. It's by far the fastest and most flexible drum product I've tried for acoustic drums. I'm not a fan of the electronic bits they've tried to add in.

I still have many kontakt based libraries that have "more" but they generally take way longer to set up for minimal gains.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

So there's no way to favorite kits? ... only beats? Seems like the only way to favorite a kit is to rename/resave.

I think you're right.

AD2 is great, but it isn't very detailed, and does sound quite processed. That might be perfect for what you're working on. If it's not then you're out of luck.

Compare, say, AD2 Jazz sticks/brushes to SD3 Jazz Sessions, or even BD3 Jazz Noir. I think you'll be able to hear a big difference.

Post

I've just started digging into AD2. I see that there are lots of additions both as drum packs and as midi files.
The packs should be new drums sounds and the midi new patterns, if I understand correctly.
So can the additional patterns in the midi packs be used with any drum kits or is each one specific for a particular drum kit?
Thanks in advance
