has anyone here been able to find these user banks on the vst?

Post

The video says they were edited and mentions new sounds, so then they wouldn’t sound quite be the same even if you found them. I mean, unless that same bank was uploaded somewhere.

I recognize several of the preset names from my JV-880, but am not sure what settings were edited in that video.

In case anyone hasn’t read this yet, here’s a very informative Don Solaris article:

thanks for the article.

When I compared a couple of pad sounds with the same name in Zenology, JV 1080 and XV 5080 with their FX turned off I couldn't tell any difference, is that just down to my old, tired ears?

There is no user bank of these "multis" or combos" that I can find for the VST. those were great sounds. All the Korg vst's have the multi banks that come with the vst.

the 2 examples in your soundcloud sound very different to me in terms of the high end.

It's not just you. In the actual XV5080 hardware they were using 32k samples especially when you used SR-JV expansion ROMs, to prevent aliasing there was some roll off in the high end frequencies

They mimic that in the XV5080 plugin but not in Zenology

My theory is that the XV5080 plugin is based on the "PCM Engine" that's in Integra7 hardware which was based on the original Fantom engine from the early 2000s

Zenology is an expanded and enhanced version of the Integra7 engine with different filtering so there is extra high frequencies in one and not the other that us geezers can't hear

You and me both, then.

That said, you should have known that posting audio examples only makes audiophiles argue harder, despite the fact that things sound so damn similar! ;) (Maybe he didn't realize there were three repeats of two different patches, and was comparing the *patches*?!)

I'd guess that equates to being able to hear over 16khz, something I'm pretty sure I can no longer do.

That said i owned an xp50 back in 98, where I'm pretty confident I could hear the upper range then (being like 19 years old).

i always thought they where pretty bright sounding boards, so I'm surprised there was that much cutoff compared to my other board (a k2000 which i thought sounded duller at least in terms of presets).

I just read about this today:

https://articles.roland.com/tone-explor ... -galaxias/

“Roland Future Design Lab, the horizon-scanning R&Dgroup of Roland Corporation, has introduced their first-ever technology preview called Tone Explorer. Focused on the challenge of finding the perfect sound for a musical part, Tone Explorer uses neural networks to analyze the characteristics of a recorded MIDI phrase and presents an array of matching options ranging from safe to surprising. Offered as a functional but unfinished “technology preview,” Tone Explorer is a unique opportunity for early adopter music technology fans to directly influence future Roland development.”

awesome seems i need to subscribe, better than Jp800 and all this stuff. who needs these replicas of old hardware when you got neural networks super computers and tone explorer, way to go Roland!

Just wanted to say I liked your little preamble there, and in general how you and Jon field questions and posts here.

might be cool. at the moment all the buyers of beats and original music and the Grammys will not get anywhere near anything that uses AI for legal reasons. maybe that will change. as for me, i need less help making choices these days. sick of things constantly popping up trying to get my attention.

how about a BF Sale on roland zenology pro collection?
