Doesn't this become a self fulfilling prophecy though, company that is precarious but probably salvagable has news leak that they're in trouble, so everybody stops spending with them out of fear, which ultimately sends them over the edge ?
Well, yes, possibly. But, they could release a statement to address the situation and attempt to calm those fears. That is, unless they know it's not salvageable and they would rather pretend everything is fine, so that their customers who are unaware of the situation do keep spending.
Until forever fades away.

I doubt they are pretending everything is fine if it isnt. Pretty sure trading when insolvent is a crime so they cant know the business is a bust but keep trading anyway.

pluginboutique - and I think the person quoted as giving the warning is from audio damage, someone called Chris Randall

Ah, OK. I don't know enough about legal stuff. The post only mentions they're having "solvency issues".

I'm just not clear on why they wouldn't choose to address it publicly, if remaining quiet while it's being leaked around could potentially cause the aforementioned self fulfilling prophecy. But, of course they may just not have had time yet. We'll see.

Just bought something from Plugin Boutique.
Went flawlessly, no problems.
Don't noticed any problems.

Why is Randall sticking his oar in?

The link was to a discord screen grab of a series of posts by Chris Randall at Audio Damage who said that Plugin Boutique is not paying developers in a timely manner, not just him but others he knows. Chris was suggesting buyers go direct to dev sites and wondering if it was liquidity issues. Even if true, that would not generate any problems for new purchases, so nobody would see anything different as a customer. The GS thread from which it was pulled had some debate over whether it was related to the well-publicized problems of Digital River.

If a middle-man is not passing through my money to a dev from whom I made a purchase, I personally want to know about it. It's being an informed consumer. I don't have any reason to believe the screen grab is a fake or Chris Randall is making shit up. If talking about it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, that is Plugin Boutique's issue. Maybe they should pay their bills in a timely manner and nobody will talk about them in that way.

Uncle E, you are in the business so maybe you can shed some light. Would Plugin Boutique possibly be caught up in the Digital River receivership? Would Plugin Boutique have deals with developers to pay them quarterly? Both seem plausible. I always thought the business model involved some payment mechanism other than accrued accounts and quarterly payouts.

Anything I say will be in defense of PIB and why would I want to do that? ;)

j/k I’d bet money that everything will be fine. Yes, many companies deal in accrued payments and there are many reasons why a dealer might be falling behind that have nothing to do with insolvency. Plus, Black Friday is around the corner…

Fair enough and thanks for the insights. You will always get my business over them, all else being equal, even a few pennies more. Now if I'm going to save a few dollars, well :hihi:

Completely different background but in fact the same story. :phones:
Ironically, me too. I can noodle on guitars when I'm stressed out but these days I only have a few hours a week to work on actual music.

FWIW, between Luna, Maschine, Harmony Bloom, and Ozone, I can usually complete something I'm happy with in that time.

Will anyone be selling Pro Tools Artist perpetual licences please and is it likely to be cheaper on Black Friday?

Harmony Bloom; my #1 favorite plugin purchase this year (and I bought 23 plugins so far).

LUNA looks interesting. I may give it a whirl, as I like messing with different daws (Reaper, Renoise..). Is LUNA your goto daw?

Yes, Luna is my go-to now. The MIDI is terrible so I load Maschine into it and do MIDI there. IMO, it’s worth it for the sound, mixes come together so fast.

Luna is underrated. Not sure why people tend to shy away. It’s a really nice one.
