One of the best f****** updates indeed. Everything I have ever wished for Cubase. Modulators and pattern sequencer are beautifully implemented. Happy as a banana at xmas. Do you know if modulators can send CV out from the box?

Post

Highly disappointed by the new pattern part, (similar as in GA5) it is not even possible to select Grooves like in Midi-Parts. What the heck is that Steinberg, only swing? We need grooves for drums! This must be a joke.

Is this not what you want?

Thanks yes, but for the new pattern parts you cannot use these grooves at all.
(most likely because it is a half baked copy paste job taken from groove agent).

Post

Even copy paste, moving steps all not possible. This is the weakest implementation of a Step sequencer I have ever seen in my life. Shame on you Steinberg for this hoax.

Some similar features already exist as MIDI inserts, which you can use with hardware. This is just Cubase properly integrating things with host automation for control of plugin parameters (finally ;) ) ..then putting them in a more obvious place so that people might actually use them. :)
No. This nothing to do with midi. At the moment. Modulator doesn't work on midi track
Steinberg fail to deliver the full potentiel with these tools. Hardware control !

From the manual: "....Modulators allow you to modulate any kind of parameter of an audio-related track or channel, for example, parameters of VST instruments or audio effects, channel settings, or MixConsole parameters.
A modulator can also modulate the parameters of another modulator....."

This is the first Cubase update I've been excited about in many years.
(Except for getting rid of the dongle in 12.)

I got pulled in with a 70% discount code, which they obviously timed to be outside the grace period... unless users had the psychic ability to postpone activation for a week or two. Ah... seems obvious in hindsight. Since this is the first time I've used Steinberg products for 15 years or so I don't know the tactics for upgrading. I assume there'll be discounts on upgrades at some point, but since we're already apparently in Black Friday Month/Season (which is becoming more nebulous each year) maybe there's no scope for a discount any time soon?
From my reference notes for the last few updates:
14 - Nov. 6 2024
13 - Nov. 2, 2023
12 - Mar. 2, 2022
11 - Nov. 11, 2020
10.5 - Nov. 13, 2019
10 - Nov. 13, 2018
9.5 - Nov. 16, 2017
9 - Dec. 8, 2016
8.5 - Dec. 2, 2015
8 - Dec. 3, 2014
7.5 - Nov. 28, 2013
7 - Nov. 14, 2012

It looks like they're back to yearly updates - no .5 versions.
From 11 to 12 was a longer period because of ditching the dongle.

The 70% off deal was good for a lot of people, and I'm not surprised they did it to
draw more users in for future updates.
I doubt there will be a discount for a while. Maybe next summer.

I had to install it manualy, the Downloadmanager does not work, and gives an Error message.
Even after installing all the other software the Downloadmanager needs, it does not work.
Can´t download the drumer content and nothing else.
Strange.

I have the same issue since a couple of new release of the Download Manager. It keep failing with error.

1st day of a new release the servers usually get hammered. Might be more than that, but I didn't run into any trouble.

Same here too. I couldn't get the last C13 update because of repeated Download Manager error, so it's not just system overload - this was before C14 was out. Couldn't install it manually as I couldn't even find the download, dunno where the f**k it went to. Makes me very nervous about getting C14. Strangely, other updates and content downloaded and installed, just not the main Cubase.

I like the look of the modulators, might be enough to buy it...if the fkn DL Manager fkn works :x

Any idea how to hide or at least make smaller the giant EQ on top of all channels that Steinberg has decided is more important than seeing your sends and inserts?

Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

I bought Absolute 6 from someone yesterday and had to download most of it manually. I've been having problems with the download assistant for a week now unable to download anything at all. So there have been problems quite a while before Cubase 14 was announced. I think it's the latest update that screwed it up.

I really can't gel with the newer GUIs. v13 was a step down from 12 and 14 is even worse in my eyes. It looks worse on the eye, and they've split the basic left panel into 2 panels now so need to take up MORE real estate. I now need to have the Basic panel AND the stupid new Routing panel open when scratching ideas. Mute, Solo, MIDI Vol, MIDI input, the selected VST instrument and the 'open selected VST instrument' button ALL should remain on the BASIC panel.

looks like i'm gonna hold onto my upgrade code for another version.

like i get it, WOW look at all the new features. but when they keep f**king with the GUI it's so frustrating for long time users who actually realise it's WORSE NOW.
The new GUI elements, buttons, spacing, pretty much everything is f**king crap.
It's harder to see and slows down workflow because it all just looks the same, and can't be quickly identified thus staying in the flow... there's no clearly defined sections anymore. The font isn't any easier to read either, i think it's harder to read.
Fuckity f**king f**k
