Even after installing all the other software the Downloadmanager needs, it does not work.
Can´t download the drumer content and nothing else.Strange.
The Download Manager is only a front end for Aria2, which is what actually does the downloading. Obviously check the settings to make sure you have permission for your download path. Then make sure things like firewalls / anti-virus aren’t blocking the Aria2 program from launching and making the download..

I just spent 110 dollars to get rid of that bright, white menu bar. It was worth it.

Any users of recent Cubase versions care to mention how ARA/Melodyne integration is working out? I've read some forum posts about issues with it, but it seems to be somewhat isolated cases? Logic is my main DAW and I have no intentions of replacing it, but ARA is still not working and I typically use a secondary DAW (has been Studio One for the past year or so) for tracking and cleaning up vocals, but I think I'd prefer to upgrade my Cubase 9.5 license if it's working well in current Cubase versions.

Keep in mind that, if you don't upgrade to the new licencer before 2025, you will need to purchase a brand new license and you will not be eligible for any upgrade paths anymore:

Good to know! :tu: I'll need to confirm it when I get home, but I may have already upgraded the licenser. I know I did when I upgraded to the latest Wavelab, but not sure about Cubase 9.5. Regardless, I'll most likely be upgrading to C14 before then anyway.

Is Nuendo 14 unlikely to have all the drum/modulator features Cubase 14 just added in it's upgrade or is it something I can likely look forward to when Nuendo 14 is released?

cubase review in comparison to my main daw s1

Pros
- cubase has a better sampler
- more audio algorithms for warping when combined with ara 2 integration gives you an insane amount of flexibility over your audio.
- quality of plugins is better then s1 and there is more of them. bonus perk is that the guis are imo better.
- automation overall is a lot better - very snappy and easy to work with - just hover over the lane shows you the automation points unlike s1 where the automation points need the lane to be selected to be displayed.
- QWERTY (or as they call it on-screen keyboard) is not bugged unlike it is on mac os when selecting a parameter while doing sound design and playing the qwerty keyboard. In s1 this causes hangs and this sucks to use if your doing sound design on the road.
- how does every daw not have the mixer inserts sizes being able to be scaled! this is incredible. logic pro take notes.
- Modulators - i mean how does s1 not have a basic modulator system at least as bad as logics. To the reports of people saying modulators have been slow to work with -> i have not had this experience at all and I assume its a bug some people are having as mine has been very responsive and snappy.

Cons (and i write these knowing I just may not have enough experience using the daw)
- group / folder system seems a little antiquated. having to make something a folder and a group just to have organization but still have the routing of a group track is wild. if you group a track its just routing. you need to use visibility pane on left to open / close the folders in the mixer
- automation parameter selection - some vst3 plugins you can right click and assign to a new automation lane but at least half of them if not more then half you cant. all you have to do is go into write mode and touch the parameter like og logic days or dive through the parameter menu like is popular in pro tools or how some ppl go about s1s automation (even though this is imo a slow way to work in s1)
- been crashing on save - a lot - but like s1 great auto save features.
- a lot of key commands are singular functions and not toggles of some kind. for example expand/collapse folder track you wish was one button but you need to keybind it to two buttons.

overall probably going to stay on cubase 14 through the weekend and finish a track if i can. will leave a review when I finish something in this and let you know if I'm switching from s1. at the very least after 24 hours its obvious cubase deserves a serious look.

Yes, Nuendo always has all the features Cubase has.

I'm grouping tracks to make busses. It's super easy and I wouldn't want it to change. Just select the tracks you want to group (hold control key and left click on the tracks) then right click and select Create Group with Selected and give it a name (Making sure Create INSIDE folder is selected in the popup prompt). done.

Then I make sure all my busses are at the bottom in a tidy bunch. I'm not sure what you mean by folder. But I don't want to hide the tracks in that bus. I'm curious, not to argue but to understand, what you're doing.

Maybe you're not using group tracks but specifically folder tracks?

This looks tantalizing. First off, improved cpu performance? I'm basically sold right there. With Dawproject I can move things over from Studio One and compare cpu performance b/t the two.
Thirdly the new drum sampler/synth looks dope, the sequencer has euclidean, & useful random quick beat filler uppers which look incredible.

Gui dark mode is another plus. You can drag around the mixer. It's a third cheaper than the S17 update, which even though I missed the free update period by a couple weeks or so, I'm happy to pay for. Man it's a tale of two updates b/t recent Studio One and this I must say, although I have yet to try either of them. Which brings another point in Cubase's favor, a 60 day trial vs. last time I checked you can't even demo S17.

I'm impressed honestly. This makes me want to switch to Cubase and use it near exclusively, barring any fickleness w/ the update. These are all meaningfully significant additions and improvements.

Melodyne works quite well in Cubase 14 via ARA with one notable exception: If you need to change the tempo or pitch of audio tracks in Musical mode, the ARA/Melodyne editor won't reflect the changes and will continue to sound at the pitch and tempo of the original recording. Your only recourse is to do the pitch and/or tempo change to the file and bounce it before editing the bounced version in Melodyne. This is a Celemony issue with the design of ARA.

Does the drum sampler in the new C14 release have sample analysis like in Live 12? It seems like the missing factor.

Yeah, that pretty much sums up the threads I saw. I don't see that being a deal breaker for me, and I went ahead and bought the upgrade a little while ago.

Torchlight wrote: Wed Nov 06, 2024 5:05 pm This is actually sickening. I updated to 13 in early September and haven't even booted it up yet, but now I need to pay to upgrade because it's outside the 1-month grace period. Did Steinberg Cubase grace periods not used to be much longer than this? In September I was also able to update Dorico Pro to 5.5 from (I think) 3.5 for free using multiple "grace period" vouchers.
The interweb tells me that 12 to 13 had a longer period. I got pulled in with a 70% discount code, which they obviously timed to be outside the grace period... unless users had the psychic ability to postpone activation for a week or two. Ah... seems obvious in hindsight. Since this is the first time I've used Steinberg products for 15 years or so I don't know the tactics for upgrading. I assume there'll be discounts on upgrades at some point, but since we're already apparently in Black Friday Month/Season (which is becoming more nebulous each year) maybe there's no scope for a discount any time soon?
When you purchase the download code, you don't have to activate it right away. I am on Cubase 12. I bought Cubase 13 upgrade in March 2024, but just sat on the code. November 6th when they announced 14, I applied the code to my account, and was in the grace period and got 14 for free. I've been doing this since at least Cubase 6. I'm fine being patient for 2 years and getting every other version of Cubase for a heavy discount and just live with the older version for 2 years. So that means I'll wait for Cubase 15 to come out next November, wait until probably March of 2026 for the upgrade sale of 15, and register the code for 15 when 16 comes out and get in the grace period for free. Depends if you can just be patient or not.
