The (old) new VST incompatibility thread

I am finding that plugins that use a lot of CPU (EVE and SFZ with a big soundfont loaded) cause the program to stick and make a buzzing sound! I am using it on windows 2000 with an Edirol USB soundcard (with asio drivers): the soundcard works fine with logic audio and I don't get this problem at all.

I downloaded Tracktion, and have been trying out various VST's. All along I have been thinking the problem has been with the VST's, that is until I read this thread. The VST's I have had problems with include Sampletank 2 Free, Tera 2, and most of all, Sonik Synth 2 Free, rendering it (metaphorically & literally) unusable, as it shows weird loop clicks and renders stuck notes. I read something about turning off realtime priority mode for Sampletank, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do that, as the documentation seems, well, vague. Any help on this topic?

To turn on or off realtime priority mode in tracktion, go to settings tab and there is a button about 3/4 down page to turn it on or off. I think it is usually off by default

I must be blind because I STILL don't see it. Which subtab is it under - audio, plug ins, keymaps, or misc.? Is it refered to as something else? Any way to post a screenshot?halfwaycat wrote:To turn on or off realtime priority mode in tracktion, go to settings tab and there is a button about 3/4 down page to turn it on or off. you can get to the settings tab 2 ways
1: as soon as you open up Traction at the top left of the screen there are two filing cabinet type graphics. Projects will be highlighted, settings is to the right of it
2: when you actually open up an edit, at the top left of screen, settings is the centre tab

that sounds like a bug in zero vector, not tracktion. If the number of instances affects behavior then most likely zero vector is incorrectly leaving some values global between all instances.D-Fusion wrote:I have a problem with the zerovector when you use more than one instance of it and freezes one of them the notes gets out of tune.

not on the mac it isn't - that setting is PC only, so if the OP is using mac he wont find it.halfwaycat wrote:re: my last mail the real time priority mode button is just below the midi devices section,of the settings tab, at least it on my screen
There is a 1x render option that people who are having rendering issues shoudl try.

Yeah i think it´s a problem with zerovector too.
Maybe it is that the freeze function Freeze to 44100 i used 48000khz asio driver. I will try to freeze it in 44100 khz later and see if that will help.

if you are rendering to a different speed than your current working frequency thing sounding out of tune is pretty likely.

Are you refering to the button that says "only show enabled devices", of which I currently have none (don't have a midi controller yet)? If not, I must be missing the "turn off realtime mode" button you are refering to. Does the mac OSX version not offer this I wonder? If so, I guess I'll have to look at a different setup....halfwaycat wrote:re: my last mail the real time priority mode button is just below the midi devices section,of the settings tab, at least it on my screen

Doing a bit of house cleaning. This is really old and most everything listed is out of date.
