I guess you could use a different sample on each layer, use about 8 layers like that and then have it cycle through them?
No I haven't tried it yet but that's a really good idea. 16 Layers, each with full .sfz support should yield some very impressive Wavesequencing sounds based of course on the sample content available to choose from.

For ambient, cinematic, soundscapes, FX, etc Wavesequencing is a very powerful tool and one of my favorite synthesis methods.

All that would be needed is a way to delay each layer so that the samples in them trigger one after the other instead of all at once and that should be easy to accomplish with MSEGs to Layer Amp Volume and then a way to have cross fades between each layer so the transitions are smooth. The question is would it be possible for the sequence to keep cycling while holding notes for long periods? In other words instead of going say 1,2,3,4 when you hit a key then stopping, having the sequence keep cycling over and over while keys are held down.

I think that will be the challenge of the day....... :)

EDIT: Looks like it's more about crossfading samples.
Yes quite different. Wavetables use a series of single cycle waveforms while Wavesequencing uses full size multi samples with as you say some cross fading (or not if you want abrupt changes from one sample to the other for more rhythmic sequences). :)

I would call 2.5 GIGS of free sample content "a ton".

Try to understand that "a ton of sample content" is not the same statement as "a huge variety and wide range of different samples".

If you don't like that type of content then don't download it, pretty simple. Others have pointed you to more .sfz files so that should make you happy.

I always suggest the Zampler content because when some people think of samples they think of pianos or strings etc. Some fail to consider that you can sample hardware synths and then use those samples in plugins that allow sample import.

Layering samples from hardware synths with a plugin's built in VA engine can yield some very pleasing results and a depth of sound that can often not be achieved by using the VA engine alone.

Boy oh boy, you really got triggered by my little remark so you decided to write this useless, patronizing and condescending rant.

No dude, you must try to understand than when you say "a ton of free .sfz files" people might get the impression there's also some variety in there not just quantity.

Really? Oh, thank you so much, Captain Obvious! I'm so relieved now that you stated the obvious that I don't have to download it if I don't like it! Yeeeyy! Do you have some more precious and wise tips?
So my advice for you: in the future keep the condescending tone down. It's just lame, gratuitous and useless.

Any chance to see the recent version also on the webpage? Or is the new version still in the works?

It would be cool (in a future version) to add an easy way to setup a certain amount of samples and do the wavesequencing between them. It could be set up with the layers like I mentioned, but something easier would be nice. Sort of like how you added the way to make the drums/percussion easier to edit.

Layers approach might be too complicated. Another "dedicated" oscillator type would solve the issue better I guess.

How feasible would it be to implement trigger properties for the modulators too, similar to those for the LFO (global, mono, poly, random), in the near future? This could help create a constant phasing effect for repetitive short notes.

I was experimenting with this using layers to do some wavesequencing. I used 3 layers and a different sample in each layer's osc.

Then I enable the Seq. for each layer, so it will play the sample every third step. i.e. The first step was set to play for the first layer, 2nd layer has the 2nd step to play its sample, and 3rd layer the 3rd step to play. So they each play one sample one after the other.

That works, except it's weird, as it keeps adding extra divisional steps onto certain steps of the sequence that I didn't add. I delete those steps and then its ok, but then it happens again. You can see in the 7th step there are some steps in it. I didn't add those.

Also, is there a way to view all 9 steps of my sequencer setup on my screen at once? I must be doing something wrong. :?

I noticed it doesn't show those divisional steps (within a step) when looking at the Track view, but it does on the Tab view. I’m using the VST2 version on my PC in Cakewalk.

Sigh... Yesterday, I bought the v2->v3 upgrade at PluginBoutique.
Still, it was less than the official price, but anyway not the 19$ current sale price...

Looks like they have not updated the prices correctly. I sent out an email to them.

PM me your registered email address, I'll send you a credit coupon
I also bought the upgrade on Pluginboutique for 25$ (without taxes) on the same same day. So I took the chance to DM you as well :hyper:

I tried my wave sequence idea this morning and this time I made it an even count of 16 steps (versus 9) and didn't have the issues I mentioned earlier.

When muting one layer, that layer will stay muted no matter whatever preset you're selecting after.
Pretty weird, i was just scrolling through presets and a lot were silent. Turned out that these were 1 layer presets and i muted layer 1 in one preset before...
