since theres newer versions out that havent been out for long, which ones would you think are better, im lookin into buyin a good sequencer, ive tried Nuendo 2 and Sonar 3, i liked Nuendo 2 more but from what ive read automation is better now in Sonar 4, i have not tried any of these, i want to see if the new Sonar got good enough

Post

If you dont have 2 grand, get sonar. If you do have 2 grand get sonar :P

Nuendo isnt just a sequencer and if thats what you want, it over the top. It does post production work. A better comparison is Sonar vs Cubase.

Post

soo ur sayin Nuendo also is good for audio editing, more like multitracking and mastering kind of. and you would take Sonar over Cubase?

Post

Nuendo is a high end audio application, it has true surround sound capability. Most people use it instead of protools. Yes it has multitracking, 64 bit broadcast wav format and many options geared towards the film industry. I prefer Nuendo over Cubase as I use adobe premiere. I prefer Cubase AND Nunedo over Sonar.

I prefer Sonar AND Sonar over Steinberg products.
If it sounds good it is good.

A better comparison would be Cubase and Sonar. Try to demo them both and see what you like better. They're both good.

Don't forget that Pinnacle just dumped, er, I mean "sold", Steinberg to Yamaha, who will undoubtedly use their great software expertise to make Nuendo better.

funny comparison with Ultra and Eric they both sound like they do the same lol. keep coming at the opinions i think nuendo is a bit more professional that sonar, baisically i think all of steinberg's products are very good i cant doubt any of them.

Post

hahaha yeah, I purposely framed it that way just to mess around.

I think 'more professional' is a subjective term tho, Can you produce a cd using Sonar... YES, can you produce a cd using Cubase/Nuendo... YES. So at that point it really comes down to workflow.

Nuendo does have some more niche/esoteric features above and beyond Sonar and Cubase, but at 2-3 times the price, thats pretty much to be expected.
If it sounds good it is good.

maxxxter quoth And it's a REAL vst host. No compatibility issues.

I currently have 264 different plugins available to Sonar, from a very wide spectrum of developers. With no compatibility problems. I have used and tested hundreds more.

The one developer who's plugins consistently give problems in other hosts, including Sonar? Steinberg.

Funny that; can't even stick to their own standard. Not a good sign.

What was that about compatibility again?
