Update Not Working from Download Manager

The last couple of updates that the Download Manager has offered up, .42 and .44 have not actually installed despite what the manager says. It shows .44 is installed:
But Waveform Pro was still at .42:
Manually running the installer does successfully update WF to .44

They have been doing major work to the servers, and the download manager was completely broken yesterday. It is now starting to get back to normal. You will also notice that your old password will no longer work and a new one will be needed.

Thanks but it has nothing whatsoever to do with the servers. The 13.0.44 update .exe downloaded just fine. Download Manager said it was installed but it wasn't as you can see in the images above.
This also occurred with the .42 update as well however long ago that was. Download Manager showed the update as available, downloaded it and showed it was being installed but afterwards the update was not applied. It had to be manually updated as did this latest update.
This behavior appears to be a bug which is why I'm reporting it here. Maybe Figbug will see it.
I did just get the reset password issue on this system but earlier today did not on my studio system. Old password worked fine.
Were they hacked ?

just a thought: go to the Settings in the Download Manager and make sure that the "Install When Download Completes" option is checked.Teksonik wrote: Fri May 31, 2024 10:26 pm Thanks but it has nothing whatsoever to do with the servers. Yes it's checked but even if it wasn't the Download Manager should not show that the latest version was installed when it fact it wasn't.JamminFool wrote: Sat Jun 01, 2024 1:53 pm just a thought: go to the Settings in the Download Manager and make sure that the "Install When Download Completes" option is checked.
This first occurred with the 13.0.42 update and I just let it go but when it did the same thing for the 13.0.44 update I thought I better mention it. All previous updates were applied properly
Both updates had to be manually applied which is not a big deal. I'm sure they have more important issues to deal with but I thought I should report what's happening here.

totally agree. i was just hoping it might explain why it didn't actually install, because i got bit by this when using the Download Manager to "install" Collective a while back.Teksonik wrote: Sun Jun 02, 2024 12:36 pmYes it's checked but even if it wasn't the Download Manager should not show that the latest version was installed when it fact it wasn't.JamminFool wrote: Sat Jun 01, 2024 1:53 pm just a thought: go to the Settings in the Download Manager and make sure that the "Install When Download Completes" option is checked.
i have been manually installing Waveform itself for a while now, so I haven't noticed what you describe.

Ok it just happened again with the 13.1.2 update.
Download Manager shows that 13.1.2 is downloading which it did:
It shows that 13.1.2 was installed:
But it was not:
I was able to apply the update manually. I don't know what user error could be involved as all I did was click a couple of buttons and I don't know what setting would cause the Download Manager to show an update was applied when in fact it was not.
EDIT: The Download Manager offered the 1.56 update for Hyperion today and it installed just fine so not sure what's going on with WF updates.

I ran into an issue where Collective content would download, but not install.

I came here looking for answers from fellow users (specifically for the download manager on Linux) and instead realized that Tracktion's download manager is garbage based on what I've seen. It's also broken on Linux. In 50%-60% of the time it downloads a content pack, plug-in, etc. (installation is manual). The other times, it completely deletes files from the system immediately once a download completes. The Waveform settings "download" tab is pointless because it cannot download anything, but instead invokes the dysfunctional download manager. On MacOS, the download manager functions normally, and that's the only reason I still use the plugins and content packs that I purchased from them (not buying any in the future). It seems that Tracktion's quality control is just extremely poor. Their support is equally bad, or rather non-existent, in my experience. I've contacted them several times in the past about bugs, but they never acknowledged a support ticket let alone resolve it. In contrast, Ableton and Bitwig care, solve issues, and troubleshoot and address bugs with their paying customers.

To my knowledge the developers are aware about the Download Manager needing some care, but currently are still busy fixing something else.
About "it completely deletes files from the system immediately once a download completes", may it be that this concerns the Attracktive Content "demo" package? I have BioTek2 and its Content package installed, and the Attracktive Content is simply a "BioTek demo" content package due to Attracktive being a simplified BioTek sound player. My Attracktive plugin therefore scans and works with the full BioTek Content package. I by now assumed that the demo package became deleted after the download simply because the superior BioTek content is anyway in place already. Sure, it then would have been better to not even download the demo package, but to check before the download if it indeed is needed to become downloaded. At least Attracktive works and got its content.
Or do you experience this with a different package?

the download manager still isn't working properly for updates, at least not here. Been happening for months now. Just updated Attracktive content content (nice name), and when it finished downloading I got this;
I open attracktive. Nothing.
Oblivium Alpha has an update.
I hit update.
Ok. I reopen the download manager.
So did it not install. Is there an update or not? Am I updated? You tell me. There's no way for me to tell by opening the synth.
Tracktion download manager has full disk access and permissions.

It gets better. I just tried installing a couple of expansions I just bought. Some installed, some didnt. All of them STILL say I need to install them after restarting the download manager. For reference, Lifeforms and Unfold seem to have installed (even though the manager says otherwise), but Zerus wont, no matter how many time I restart the manager and synth.
