OTT is pretty great, especially since it's free. I personally have only used it as more-or-less a sound design tool for re-shaping individual sounds or a group of layered sounds (e.g., for huge layered basses!). I've never actually tried it for mastering because, as it's name implies, it really tends to go overboard, whereas I prefer something more conventional and subtle for mastering, like Pro-MB or Ozone's MB compressor.

OTT just has such a distinct sound. I find it transforms material way too much to use regularly but it has its place. That said, I almost always just replace it with Fuse Compressor which is just great and so easy to use. Again though, it's colouring the sound a lot. For more mix oriented multiband compression, Toneboosters MBC is my choice.

I use waves c4 still all the time. It was my go-to compressor for years along with RVox. They were on every mic input by default. They're still second nature to me and sound grand provided you don't clip the output of c4.
I also love the Melda Mb Dynamics. It's just completely straightforward and behaves exactly as you'd expect based on the settings. You can also get crazy with custom curves and stuff if you need to.
I also use the hell out of +spectral Commander from sound hack. It's grand for all sort of odd thing including cleaning up messy sounds and taming the tonal bits of a sound to bring out noisy textures.
I like OTtT set to around 4-12% depending on what's feeding it. I also enjoy slamming it on, full tilt, for odd sound design.
Edit: also the audiority multi band via is great.

Good tip. I used to do this a bit with MA Fuse (OTT stye comp). Hit the mids and then dial the wet way back.martiu wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2024 10:53 pmyou can use it on the master whit low dept settingscryophonik wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2024 9:49 pm OTT is pretty great, especially since it's free. Leapwing DyneOne has a similar effect on the mix, and IMO it's a bit more refined than blending in an OTT. An OTT in parallel will still work in a pinch though.

The expander is great for adding some liveliness back into the material though.Morty-C-137 wrote: Sat Nov 23, 2024 6:56 amThe free version really already gives me all I need.kraster wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2024 9:22 pmLens is fantastic and it's 11.99 at the moment.Morty-C-137 wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2024 6:57 pm The ones I use:

This is very useful for mastering situations or situations where you want to have more dynamics like drums or percussion.
Also it’s 12 bucks!

Completely overlooked it for such tasks.
Thanks for the reminder!
