Wonder if Best Service will have their holiday sale around Christmas where they offer 20% savings if you buy over $100 worth of software. Yes -20% even on software that are on sale.
I did this for several years now.

Who knows? I am not a fan of high-pressure sales that try to encourage you to buy more than you wanted to get a better discount. I was thinking about rounding out my UVI Quadra library with the "Traveler" sample library but decided to not buy it now because the only way to get the best price is to buy two more products. They have nothing else that interests me at the moment. I am not angry about it because there are more sales on stuff of interest to me. I set a budget limit for hardware and software (fairly large tbh) for my hobby and am playing the game.Kalamata Kid wrote: Sun Nov 24, 2024 5:31 pm Wonder if Best Service will have their holiday sale around Christmas where they offer 20% savings if you buy over $100 worth of software. I have a $199 purchase I am planning to make there and so I looked back at the emails. My item's sale ends early Dec and is substantial enough discount not to wait. They might not do the sale again. It stacks, so if you know an item is on sale until end of December (or never goes on sale), worth waiting to see, and you lose nothing except time postponing a purchase.Kalamata Kid wrote: Sun Nov 24, 2024 5:31 pm Wonder if Best Service will have their holiday sale around Christmas where they offer 20% savings if you buy over $100 worth of software. In 2023 it was emailed Dec 28 (Save 20 on 100; 40 on 200).
In 2022 it was emailed Dec 29 (Save 20 on 99; 40 on 199).

Indeed it is. I guess what I feel and what you feel are different. I feel that I am not getting a good deal unless I buy three things to get 50% off and that makes me feel pressured to spend more money. I got a better deal by not buying anything.

Is the deal really good also when upgrading from PPS 7.5.. or is this true only for upgrades from version 8?Uncle E wrote: Sun Nov 17, 2024 4:47 am Yes. The RX Post Production Suite Upgrade is going to be a really good deal.

Sadly, the best deal will only be the upgrade from 8.JohanBq wrote: Mon Nov 25, 2024 12:21 am Is the deal really good also when upgrading from PPS 7.5.. or is this true only for upgrades from version 8?

Yes, nothing new. These upgrade prices differences have been customary since quite some years.
And actually mean that only the latest PPS version owners are sort of "compelled" to upgrade to their discounted latest bundle, only if some of the newly included software is in fact attractive.
In my case, if I remember well, I remain expectant while in PPS version 6, and have very little interest in upgrading... What is new in there? A novel version of Nectar? Not much of a difference to my work. Then, latest RX Advanced? or dialogue match? Both have already been bettered (for a long stretch) by Spectralayers 11 and upgrading this one, has only costed around $50 to $80 yearly with radical new features coming out each time (and with continuous and responsive maintenance). It might not be another one knob easiest plugin, but I'd rather go deeper than easier. A very similar story with Melodyne Studio; once had it entitles one with accessible reasonable upgrades, distanced 3 or 4 years each new version, but with radically novel upgrades each cycle, so no interest in a bundled elemental version of it.
///Therefore, one may comfortably wait and let the years pass by, till iZotope finds and implements something interesting in their Post Production software upgrades.
Also, agree with the notion that their Production tools have been evolving somewhat nicely (Ozone et al), but not at their PPS side, comparatively at least with what has been made available elsewhere, in terms of functionality and pricing.

Sometimes iZotope does nice upgrade deals from older versions. But you're right, it's rare and they usually don't happen for Black Friday or Christmas.

with this discussion about Izotope I've jumped ship from RX to Spectral Layers via a crossgrade. I started my Izotope journey with Ozone 4, have updated that numerous times. Also Neutron although I realised by version 3 that I don't like what the AI part of it does and without that available I'd prefer my mixing chain to be done on individual plugins, not neutron. I had the EA reverbs, watched them go to Izotope and then paid for upgrades to Nimbus & R4.
What I don't like is that several times I've had to buy new versions outright because they are cheaper than the upgrades. I know it's not logical but that just seems wasteful.
I've also seen expensive plugins get massively reduced or given away and then abandoned.
I'll continue with Ozone and upgrade sparingly unless I can find another product with an AI assistant* but otherwise they've sort of ruined the buying experience with them.
* what intelligent limiters/ maximisers are out there that are better?
