splitting notes when splitting a clip

Currently, when you split a MIDI clip, any notes that happen to be playing right at the split point get cut off visually in the clip view, but they don't automatically get split into two separate notes. This means you have to manually go into the MIDI editor and split each individual note that crosses the split point. This is tedious work, especially when you have multiple notes playing simultaneously at the split point (like in a chord), since you need to split each note separately.

It would be more efficient if splitting the clip would automatically split any notes that cross the split point, creating two separate notes - one in each clip. This way, you wouldn't need to manually edit each note that gets caught in the split point.

Is this now possible or will it be a feature request?

You do not have to split each individual note.
Select all notes you want to split, right-click a selected note -> Event -> Split, or use your shortcut key for it. That will split all selected notes.

Let me clarify my dilemma. I'm working on actual songs, so they don't snap to a grid, which is why I always have grid snapping turned off. I have MIDI clips that I'm constantly chopping up and manually moving to match the notes being played in the songs. I am constantly chopping, rearranging and consolidating. When notes exist where I am chopping, having to manually go in to split notes after I already split the clip ruins the flow and is time consuming. It makes more sense to split the notes in the clip I split by default, which in most cases would be desirable the outcome.

Thx for elaborating and demonstrating your specific case.
I doubt that every user always wants that notes that overlap the split point are split too, resulting in a double trigger.
What i propose is that if there are notes overlapping the split point then a question pops up "What about overlapping notes?" with the choices "Split" - "Trim" - "Leave".
What do you think?

I think it should be something that is set in the sequencer preferences or something similar. And another option where that question can be asked after every split of a note.
