I’m guessing Waveform isn’t releasing the audio driver after shutdown but I’m having a hard time figuring it out.
I’ve had a version of Waveform installed since 7 but have never had this issue before.
Any ideas?
My other daws are Cakewalk by Bandlab and Harrison Mixbus 10.

I’ll add, I use a MOTU M4. All things functioning correctly except my two other daws won’t open.

I'd guess a reboot would release the audio driver, if indeed that's what it is.

Okay, now Waveform won't work either. I must have bigger issues than what I thought.
Must be a Windows or Motu issue.

Might be worth checking the Waveform logfile. Since you can't get to it via the Waveform Help option, this is where you'll find it:

C:\Users\ClintMartinApproximately\AppData\Roaming\Tracktion\Waveform\Temporary

Good luck.

I think my OS drive died. Fortunately I still have an older PC. So I’m setting it up.

SSD drives can fail and even after only a few years. This happened to me 2 years ago. Luckily I just happened to have the Samsung Magician app installed as well as none of my Data is stored on the OS drive. The Magician showed that I had written to the OS drive a zillion times and this - not capacity, is why they slow down etc. I ordered a new drive and using the Apps migration tool I was up and running in 30 minutes with a new OS drive.

I also have a Motu M4 and in W10 it goes weird on me if I leave everything turned on all day. Come back after lunch and the computer had gone to sleep. New recordings are distorted. I would have to restart whole system. I tried everything and ended up buying an SSL2. I don't like it compared to the Motu feature wise but it has been stable and I get lower buffer settings without drop outs. I just miss the monitoring set up as well as the headphones are quieter.
I built a new computer last year and it is W11. I connected the Motu M4 and it has never done this on that machine. So the SSL is still on the old computer as a back up. I bought the SSL2 because it got a lot of good reviews with claims of better pre amps? I actually think the Motu sounds better. The 4 K button on the SSL sounds distorted to me just like the Motu used to do after sleeping.
