  • bkChorus: Add new Wobble mode which uses a sine LFO instad of triangle LFO.
  • bkChorus: Revised Chorus+ mode. Should in general sound lusher with less flanging and periodic beating
  • bkChorus: Add switch to phase invert wet signal which alters overall tone.
  • bkComp: Replace Look-Ahead function by Peak Limiter
  • bkComp: Various algorithm improvements
  • bkDelay: Add Tape emulation mode
  • bkDelay: Better balanced stereo field in ping pong mode
  • bkDelay: More convenient Feedback parameter mapping
  • bkReverb: Add pre-delay parameter
  • bkReverb: Minor tweaks
  • BUGFIX: VST3 compatibility issues

Hi, why did you remove lookahead from the comp?

It's not really gone, but now part of of the new peak detector, controlled by the "Limiter Attack" parameter. This allows you to catch signal peaks much more efficiently than with the old version, and independent of the regular attack time. For typical input signals, you can keep the the Limiter Attack between 0-2ms without causing obvious distortion.

oh figured out i had these installed when looking for a tool to move samples to match transients. you know. channel tool did what i was looking for. i wish there was also way to rotate the phase with more detail rather than just flip, but hey, niiiiice.

If by "rotate the phase" you mean delaying the signal by some small amount of time, you can achieve this via the "Delay L/R" parameters. You can also adjust Left/Right channels individually by disabling "Delay Link". You can even have your signal be played earlier than the other tracks in your project by setting a negative delay time (beware though that this introduces latency).

Is the lookahead implementation a basic sidechain delay + hold or is it more of a FIR smoothing filter?

The old implementation was indeed just a delay in the audio path.

In addition to that, the version 0.9.0 introduces a peak detector with smoothing into the envelope follower which complements the existing gain detector. Both the delay time and smoothing window length are controlled by the "Limiter Attack" parameter, thus making sure that any peak will be fully caught.

Just checked for update of your FX and wow, you did update them. Love your FX Karrikuh. :tu: Thank you so much again. So useful!

One little question: would you say that CLAP versions are on par with VST3 regarding stability and efficiency? Which ones do you use? I'm slowly using more and more CLAP plugins. Working with Reaper 6 and 7 on Linux Debian 12. Been using Linux Debian for audio for about 10 years now.

Cheers! :D

Thanks, and have fun!

Yes, CLAP should be at just as stable/efficient as the VST3, in fact I personally prefer them over VST3, mostly due to the fact that I support (truly) open standards. On the long term, I may look into implementing some of the advanced, CLAP exclusive features where it makes sense. No specific plan yet, so don't ask for details.

Hi Karrikuh,

just wanted to let you know that all the latest clap versions of the bk fx (v09) crash studio one v 7.1.1 (win 10 pro) with the following error code:

bk_fx error.png

Maybe it's on the presonus side - but i thought i'd give you the heads up anyway.

Quick add on - feature request:

next to your reverb and the string ensemble chorus i absolute love your delay. However - i especially love it in tape mode - but the added "analog noise" is persistent, no matter what - it's always there, even if the delay doesn't work at that time. Could you maybe add a knob to be able to disable it? or maybe put it in the feedback path, so that it can decay away with the feedback?
Would that be doable?

A slider to tame the tape noise would be nice too, it is quite not quiet. ^^;

I agree with you about the delay. A minimal gui, even temporary, making them usable in fl studio would be another good addition.
