How much did you pay or the Studio One v6 to v7?
Presently I am on v6 and looking at v7 from a distance.

Well, I've just caught up on what's been going on with Studio One recently, and it's very disappointing. I've used it for 95% of what I've recorded over the last decade. Ten years ago, Presonus was doing great stuff.
I'm using v5 (which has everything that I need) but it will eventually start causing problems with windows 11 after the o/s upgrade is required next year. Subscription for me an absolute no go. But I love the Studio One workflow. So, what other DAW (in Windows 11) is closest in terms of daily use? (I mostly record prog rock and electronic music as a multi-instrumentalist, albeit a rather poor one....) Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Cubase shares more of a kind of feel of Studio One and has some similarities now, but there has been some attempts to do a Studio One skin with Reaper that I remember. But honestly I don't see there being any issues with S15 and Windows 11. I'm sure many out there are already working with this configuration fine.Immanencer wrote: Tue Dec 03, 2024 2:35 am Well, I've just caught up on what's been going on with Studio One recently, and it's very disappointing. S1v5 should be fine on Windows 11.Immanencer wrote: Tue Dec 03, 2024 2:35 am I'm using v5 (which has everything that I need) but it will eventually start causing problems with windows 11 after the o/s upgrade is required next year.
I'm using v4 on W11 and it works much the same as on W10.
Having said that, if the upgrade was cheaper I would jump.

Thank you for these replies! Yeah, after checking out more online, it seems that S1v5 is working fine for most people on W11, and may well be officially supported by Presonus. This actually makes sense because W11 came out in 2021, before S1v6 was released in 2022. So, here's hoping that combo will be supported for some more years.THE INTRANCER wrote: Tue Dec 03, 2024 3:04 am Cubase shares more of a kind of feel of Studio One and has some similarities now, but there has been some attempts to do a Studio One skin with Reaper that I remember. Have they addressed the bug that causes mono tracks to be recorded or bounced in stereo instead of mono as expected? I would test it myself but Presonus has yet to release the demo version even though it's been almost three months since S1 v7 was released.

I haven't upgraded from v6.Kalamata Kid wrote: Sun Dec 01, 2024 8:42 pm How much did you pay or the Studio One v6 to v7?

PreSonus needs to offer something worth upgrading for, especially since SOUP (Studio One Upgrade Plan) is exactly like Waves' WUP and is only good for 1 year. I won't waste money letting the clock tick down with nothing to show for it.
SOUP actually disincentivizes users from upgrading, because now it pays to hold off for as long as you can. It's a pretty stupid move, if you ask me.

If it doesn't pay off, then they'll drop it in a couple of years in favor of subscription only. But since you can keep core S1 application after the expiration of your subscription, the entire distinction between "perpetual" and "subscription" is odd.jamcat wrote: Thu Dec 05, 2024 6:28 am SOUP actually disincentivizes users from upgrading, because now it pays to hold off for as long as you can. I am also holding off from updating to v7.Crossinger wrote: Thu Dec 05, 2024 6:53 amIf it doesn't pay off, then they'll drop it in a couple of years in favor of subscription only. Waiting to see what are those big point releases they promised to bring more frequently with the new price model - seems so far mostly some bug fixes or did I miss something?
And still no Studio one 7 demo?

I think this is exactly right and is certainly how I feel about it too. I only upgraded to v6 for the project templates (something which should have already been there tbh) and that was with great reluctance because v6 was really about Atmos and I've got no interest in it.jamcat wrote: Thu Dec 05, 2024 6:28 amI haven't upgraded from v6.Kalamata Kid wrote: Sun Dec 01, 2024 8:42 pm How much did you pay or the Studio One v6 to v7?

If they'd had the same stupid Waves-type upgrade policy I probably wouldn't have bothered so Presonus wouldn't have made that sale.
So, as you rightly point out, there's going to be a whole bunch of people who would have upgraded that are waiting to see when (and if) they should start the clock ticking on their 1 year.
