Lets also remember Abbey Road Soothe.

You can be creative in any right place on Earth, and not only in the wealthiest cities. Bring the world feelings from everywhere, and not only feelings of capitalistic or jail environment.

Plus the compression that was used in mastering to achieve transfer to vinyl. And the compression inherent in the cassette tape or vinyl listening medium.
And the compression our own nostalgic brains have added over the years, remembering how great something from our past was without applying the proper perspective of the modern landscape.
Also important to note is that many of those popular older recordings have been remixed and remastered about once per decade using the latest and greatest tools.

Re-mastering old recordings is an interesting topic. There are for sure good examples, but also bad ones.billinder33 wrote: Mon Dec 02, 2024 8:14 pm Plus the compression that was used in mastering to achieve transfer to vinyl. After Prince's death a couple of his albuns were re-released remastered.
I prefer the original albums mastered by Bernie Grundman, one of the best mastering engineers.
The remastered tracks sound too overpolished and that's not what the artist wanted, he wanted it raw and didn't care that much about sound quality, but focused more on songs, the arrangement, the vibe, the magic of the first take and prefered a superfast workflow in order to record his endless ideas from his ocean of creativity immediately.
Overpolishing is not healthy and doesn't necessarily lead to a better result.
Researches show that it's better to let children play in the dirt, otherwise they might get to sensitive to diseases or allergies!
Keep old songs raw, dirty and unpolished to preserve the vibe and for a healthy relation to real music;
today there are more than 50.000 new overpolished and overcompressed songs
being released daily with fake voices and autotune and soothe and no real drums and almost no dynamic range, there's no need to make old songs sound like that.

Probably Valhalla verbs, they sound quite flat and too upfront, good for effects but not for basic usages. I still use them quite a lot tho because it's fast and low CPU.

Just don't produce any problems!
Fabfilter ProQ
Well, nice, but it's just an eq
Valhalla Room and Vintage reverb
Well, is it just me or aren't there lots of better options?!
Underrated:
Waves CLA 3A
Please don't tell me other devs made a better emu. Really? R u sure?
BSS DPR-402
One of the best comps ever released imo
AIR Mini Grand
It's better than Pianoteq imo
LoudMax
It's great and it's free
Maybe you have some more examples
or different opinion.
You have started a war.
Also, why is valhalla under the overrated list. I mean its the best reverb plugins I have used, I am not influenced by any youtube videos and all. I still feel its pretty good.

I mean, every single plugin he named is widely used by professional mixers and mastering engineers, so in fact it cannot be overrated.
...and he claimed to not need soothe cause he just records it properly so no problem is produced, hence no need for soothe. Which makes it obvious that he has no clue what he is talking.

Hype vs. Rate...
Over-hyped and over-rated are not really the same thing. So comparing it to the under-rated is kind of a non sequitur. So is anybody discussing the under-hyped? Or just equivocating two exclusives?

Most underrated: the plugins you, we, I already have.
Most overrated: any new plugin.

It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?

I think kvr is more for home recording.people. Just a recommendation: room treatment, appropriate mic for your recording environment, the best distance from instrument to mic and also a good playing technique, especially bassist and singers and avoid barking dogs during tracking. The Main Event wrote: Wed Dec 04, 2024 11:23 am I mean, every single plugin he named is widely used by professional mixers and mastering engineers, so in fact it cannot be overrated.

Soothe widely used by professional mastering engineers? Any names?
Just would like to contact them to find out what they would use it for. Thanks in advance
Just checked the homepage of Bernie Grundman - the most successful mastering studio in the music history.
Soothe is not mentioned, maybe it's a secret and they won't let anyone know - a secret weapon.
I will call and ask.
Found an underrated plugin as some posts say
