Besides simplification, customizable UI, and video track, there wasn’t much on the table with the release of v6 (September 2022). The Dolby Atmos came one year later (September 2023) with v6.5.

Exactly my point, there was nothing in 6.0 of any use to me but when they introduced project templates in 6.1 that was enough to get me to upgrade and I assumed there'd be more stuff coming in later 6.x releases which would make the upgrade feel worthwhile.

I was wrong.

I’m a huge fan of the v6 upgrade. Being able to hide any GUI element was a big one for me. So was custom colour palettes in 6.1. But sends on FX channels was the biggest of all, because FX channels don’t Passthrough MixFX, unlike Busses. This lets you to use FX channels like a Bus, but protects the source audio tracks from MixFX crosstalk. That’s super important for ampsims.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

The 1 year clock being a disincentive explains how I feel about it too. There's nothing in 7.0 that would benefit me as a rock / metal artist.

I've just re-installed Version 6 after trying out other DAWs for a while and it does everything I could want.

Plus I find Gregor and Joe's videos unmatched as far as tutorials go (with the exception of Kenny Goia for Reaper). They teach you how to do things without being annoying influencers, lol.

Just shows how hard it is for DAW developers nowadays because everybody has a different workflow and wants/uses different things. So I'm not too hard on Presonus for not adding any features to 7 (or 6 mostly) that don't help me but copying the hated "waves upgrade plan" just seems stupid.

I'm still to try cubase but I'm increasingly of the view that I'll just stick with Studio One v6 unless Presonus adds some feature to a future release that's worth the upgrade fee.

They promised a road map to future updates that were to be released every quarter for subscribers. It's been almost three months since the release of v7. I still haven't heard a peep about the promised updates.
What sound do dreams make when they die?

I don't think much will happen before the end of the year. There are also the holidays in between and the teams will only slowly start to ramp up again in January. My guess is that we won't see a v7.1 until mid/end February at the earliest.

Always wanted to try it and bought it as soon as the price for a perpetual license dropped to under 200 bucks...
This thing crashes constantly. No matter if you use AU or VST plugins it just closes on you on a daily basis.

I’m confused I don’t remember them saying every quarter for updates I remember them saying 2-3 updates a year which would be 4 months minimum 6 months maximum for the updates. Where are people getting the 3 month thing from?

Is your version of Mac OS officially supported?

Sounds scary, as some mentioned similar on windows 11.

Stability is number one, always....a few bugs and some missing features you can deal with....

Presonus says Monterey and later so should be ok.

But this article from june 14th
https://www.macobserver.com/macos/macos ... h-upgrade/

"Unless you absolutely need a new feature in macOS 15 Sequoia, I strongly advise you to avoid upgrading right off the bat. Wait a few weeks after the release to see if significant bugs arise, and then some more time for Apple to fix them."

I never owned a Mac yet, so not sure how relevant it is.

But v15.1.1 should be some fixes later....

You just made me watch that announcement video again - Joe says "three to four feature drops each year (about 3:20)"

Thinking about getting Studio One 7 but a few questions:
1) Is the $179 12 month subscription exactly the same product as the $199 perpetual license? Is it just priced that way because they want you to try Studio One +?
2) When using the program, is it easy to tell which plugins, sounds, etc you "own" and which are part of the subscription?
3) If I use subscription content in a song and then don't renew my subscription, can I still open the song later?

Thanks!
