I appreciate people posting free codes for things like this, but for this one, it's only for 6 months. It's more like an extended demo version. Is there some reason I'm just not seeing to take one of the codes and use it? Are any parts of it something I could use more than 6 months, as in a permanent license er something else?

It would probably take me most of those 6 months just to get to know the DAW and then it's over with.

This is not a demo, it's like a trial without restrictions for 6 months, you can save projects and open them later. After 6 months, you can activate another promo code and it will be 1 year, or buy a full license. Such licenses are usually found when buying studio equipment, audio interfaces, midi keyboards, etc.

Yeah the Cubase trial/demo version lets you save projects also and it's a 2 month version.
That's great to try it out of course. I just wouldn't want to keep renewing trial versions. I'd just buy it and get it over with if I liked it after the trial ran out.

Also, I don't get how one person could have 10 or more codes of the same product. I doubt they bought ten or more products and each one of those happen to have a code for the exact same product. Maybe they work for the FL Studio people and are promoting it? Who knows.

I tried 6 or 7 of these codes from the TEXT Only section and they were all taken. I gave up.

Looking at what's been posted, I think they come from a Focusrite promotion – if you happen to have ten qualifying interfaces lying around, then it is possible.

Ok thanks for the info. But I don’t think Reason+ was in there unless I missed it, and they had around 15 codes for it.

Also who buys 10 interfaces at once? Maybe a music school director or recording studio I guess.

I'm wondering if a separate "Free Serials" sticky thread would be useful? It might make it easier to keep track of such giveaways but it would only work if everyone posted when a code is used.

I'm no longer wondering. I am now convinced a separate sticky thread for Codes would be a good idea at least during the holidays.

There needs to be some way to force people to ask for the codes rather than lurkers just sucking them all up without a single thank you or notification they've been used.

I'm not convinced these codes are perfectly legal anyway especially so many coming from one person. So the Mods do need to have a look at what's going on and decide a prudent course of action going forward.

I am a teacher. When we need some new equipment, it is not rare to make a purchase of let's say 20+ interfaces... therefore giving me 20+ codes for free software (which sometimes I don't use for my classes). I don't think there is anything shady here, just different circumstances.

It's amazing how some people will immediately go to the negative when considering someone's intentions and actions. Instead of assuming and alluding to wrong doing, why not ask the person directly?
