Ive been doing computer music stuff since 2004, and used Mulab for over a year way back in 2007/2008....

But now....Ive seemingly zero idea whats going on.
I load a new project...open a basic synth and....cannot for the life of me figure out how to open or create a section of x amount of bars, nor how to open a section with the key/notes section...whatever Mulab calls it. :-?
Ive looked over the very few vids and even the docs...I cannot find this very simple and basic thing.

How have I missed this very basic and "everyday" thing (and ought to be intuative to anyone and everyone whos ever used ANY DAW ever!, should be a double click here or click there.....) ?

Get Mulab 9.5
Launch it.
At the launch pop-up, just to make sure, click Templates and pick Factory->New Composer.
Move the end of loop marker up to bar 9.
Turn on loop mode.
Hold down control on the track, under the timeline, drag the mouse pointer from "1" to "9" to get an eight-bar sequence feeding events to Basic Synth Rack from that track.
Double click the sequence.
Hold down control on the timeline alongside the note you want and drag for the duration you want at the position you want.
Repeat until you've written your tune.
Hit escape.
Hit space.
Listen.

ive watched all and read everything....and I still have zero idea how a clip/section becomes or is created after i insert an instrument upon a track....

Thank you!
Now I realized I had to 'paint' a sequence, #1....then, double-clicking did not at all work to open it, but a double left click did.
Sheesh. Haha!

interestingly, on my Razor Blade's mouse pad....I cannot paint notes in the editor, either....unless I double click via the left-click section.

So it seems a 'me' (or my machine) thing. Double-clicking does nothing, but left-double-clicking does.
Odd and unfortunate.

May a section or clip or bar be created or painted by another, quicker way besides using Control, or is that the one way?

Thanks so much! I’ll study that and see what’s going on with regards to my own machine.
I’ll try such via its mouse pad and also my third-party mouse to experience any differences.

Cheers, fellows!

Update: Coincidentally another user reported an issue with double-clicks in MuLab. We have been emailing about it and narrowed it down using log files. (Thx TF :tu: ) It can happen when the double-click is extremely fast (like maybe an automated double-click by a mousepad/trackpad or special mouse button) and/or when the computer's graphics card is rather slow. I've found the cause and expect the next update of MuLab 10 to fix this.

Wow, what a timely topic for us. I'm happy to be able to contribute to further improving MuLab's operability!

In reality, double-clicking often doesn't respond, so when editing clips, I mostly chose edit from the context menu. When drawing MIDI notes, I patiently double-clicking over and over again.

It's a bug, only happening with certain system conditions, and it will be fixed asap.
