What do you think Elon would call that DAW?nusound mind wrote: Sat Dec 07, 2024 8:56 pm I'd pay Elon Musk to build me Space Daw (tm), take it to Mars & remotely broadcast my productions omnidirectionally out to the known audible universe. Hopefully an intergallactic rave would start up, but who knows.

If money were no object, I'd be on Logic.
The PC thing is destroying me desire to make music or anything else, as lately I spend 95% of my time in the studio addressing one technical/computer problem after the next. I only spend about 5% of the time creating anything these days.
I just want something that works.

Leon Musk build something? Much more likely he would pay people to build a DAW. Then he might fire a bunch of them on a whim, or close the whole dept.vurt: id get elon musk to code me my own personal host, in the dashboard of one of his apocalypse vans, with roof mounted flamethrowers, that fire, every time i tweak filter cutoff.
Yes, i would use the $1k to buy some larger NVMe drives and some more RAM, where's my $1k?EnGee: Maybe buying a faster PC or Mac if money is no issue

who mentioned music?VOODOO U wrote: Sun Dec 08, 2024 11:36 pm Getting a full pro tools rig with fluffy faders and a bigger room doesn't equal better music.
Best to spend the money on A.I. apps to get the job done right.

Pro tools for making beats, ableton live for mixing and fl studio for mastering. Pro tools just has that extra definition in the lows great for kicks. Ableton live has nice summing, you're able to go really loud. Fl studio uses 384khz so you can do beter masters in there!
Currently i have to make do with cubase can't afford others..

Ah yes good point. KVRists don't use DAWs to make music; they use them to geek about.

In this context, by non musical i assume you mean not writing music.vurt wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 6:45 pm there are many non musical uses for audio workstations. that pay bloody well.
Mixing, mastering, video syncing, creating presets and any voice over work is all won-ton geekery.

Cubase 14 has become quite decent; it still needs Zebrify as a modular effect plugin (with the Massive Modular skin), but if it incorporates its internal modulators, it has turned into quite a good system.

This puts it roughly on par with Kilohearts Snap Heap, but with higher-quality effects, as well as better routing capabilities and definitely looks better
