What's with all this T2 ranting anyway?? 2005-01-07T01:26:10+00:00 From the point of view of a new user who likes Tracktion and has never known it to be anywhere other than Mackie, I'm fully expecting T2 to be compatible with Mackie hardware. Is that not obvious to people? Why else do you think they wanted it in their arsenal? They're looking for a solid sequencer to market to their users. Digital audio is hot property right now which is also why Sony bought out Sonic Foundry. I had my reservations when Adobe bought out Syntrillium, but honestly, Adobe Audition is a good piece of software. Adobe just enhanced what was already there. Is Mackie hardware so bad all of a sudden? I guess I can understand if you've followed a piece of software slavishly from its humble origins to see it in the hands of a bigger company, but heck, that happens to a lot of software. It's not our software anyway. We use it and pay for licenses to use it creatively, but we don't write it. This is not open source software we're using. They can do what they want with it. If they're smart they keep their users, if not, we go elsewhere and they lose. Perhaps being with Mackie is a great marketing opportunity? Perhaps it will increase the life of Tracktion? There may be good things about this as well. I've read here lately so many bad things, but the truth is, even if the feature set was frozen 2 bloody months ago...we still don't know all of the tweaks to the new version ! I think that much is pretty clear. I don't own any Mackie gear myself and may never...so those parts of Tracktion may be unusable for me, but even considering that, there are at least a few other features (GUI enhancements, 64 bit sound quality) that pique the interest and are not company related. If, in the future, Tracktion was to become only for Mackie hardware and you couldn't use it with one of their mixing desks, then yes, it would be crap. But, I've seen no indication so far that this will be the case. As far as I can tell, it will be like Tracktion now but with some new features to appeal to hardware users and some bug fixes and maybe a few extras thrown in.
