Technical reasons. I can't explain them in a forum post. All I can say at this point is, to be able to load/use SM1 / SM2 presets, KK requires that you install those plugins.

I am not questioning the need to install the actual VST "plugins". I am good with that.

I am questioning the need to "re-install" the NKS content specifically using the old SM1 and SM2 installers when it is clear the SM1 and SM2 NKS content is already working - just by installing SM3.

KV331 explained earlier in this thread, that for KK to work with SM1/2 presets with only SM3 installed, he needs to go through all of them and re-do them for that specific purpose (which will take a bit of time yet).

KK basically does things backwards: It looks at the preset first and from that determines what synth to load while when you have SM3 open, it can load SM1/2 and 3 presets directly.

The KK presets are installed in different locations for SM1 and 2 compared to SM3 if you install them through SM3 only.

So I assume that you will have them installed twice for KK to load them if you also install SM1 and 2.

I would also assume that it's possible that you will see those presets twice if you install them in two locations.
So you can always just install the synths without the KK content and see if that works with the SM3 installed KK presets and if not, re-install the KK content for SM1 and 2.

I would also assume that for the time being, SM1 and 2 presets will be loaded in SM1 and 2, not 3.

At least this is how I understood the conversation so far - I do not use KK.

I will try this first.

When I load an SM1 preset right now - KK is looking for the SM1 plugin and then errors out. This tells me that everything is where it needs to be - except the plugin.

EDIT: OK I've installed the update and I'm happy to say that so far the stuck notes issue in Arp Chord Mode seems to be fixed, no stuck notes yet.

But....there seems to be an issue with triggering of notes with the Arp in Chord Mode. They are sometimes not triggered properly when playing live or from a midi track.

I've made an audio example to show what I mean. The first part is another synth set to Arp Chord Mode playing a simple chord with some note changes. The second part is SM3 and you can hear that notes are being dropped as the track plays on. I used the same midi track for both and tried to program the presets as close as possible. I do have SM3's Arp set to Note Velocity:

Could this be an issue with polyphony? Stupid question but where does one set Max Global Poly in SM3? I'm not seeing a way to set the amount but I must just be overlooking it..... :?

EDIT 2: Sadly I spoke too soon. I just got stuck notes twice while live playing in Chord Mode in Waveform Pro 13.

Hi guys, glad to announce our v3.0.9 update. We are getting closer to our SynthMaster 3.1 release!

This update brings the following important new features:

1. Added ability to move data/user/public data files to custom folder locations
2. Added ability to add/remove custom folder locations for user waveforms, samples and presets

There are also critical bug fixes in this update:

1. Initializing a preset might generate clicks
2. Wavetable oscillator view might crash SynthMaster 3
3. Sample keytrack is not loaded correctly on the sample editor dialog
4. Sfz region's loop mode should be set from the corresponding sample file if the loop mode is not defined in the sfz text
5. Quick sort algorithm on large number of items might cause crashes due to stack overflow errors
6. Move before module menu is not working
7. Move after module menu is not working

Ok thanks but I was referring to the Voices indicator at the top:

Is there a limit to overall Poly or is that just an indicator of the notes in play? I was working on a patch yesterday and noticed it seemed to be pegged at 16 voices so wondered if the dropped notes in the Arp I mentioned in my post above had to do with Poly running out.

I don't think this issue is related to voice stealing. I might have fixed this issue already with 3.0.9. There were a couple of issues inside the arpeggiator code in Chord mode.

This build still does not work with Komplete Kontrol v2.9.6. Rolling back to REV 15612

Ok I've tried 5.0.9 in both Waveform Pro and FL Studio.

I'm happy to say that the Arp dropped notes issue seems to be fixed both when played live and from a midi track.

However I'm still getting stuck notes with Arp in Chord Mode in both DAWs.

Then I got this twice. It happened while loading my own presets into Layers from within the Browser. I did have Fixed Size Buffers On in FLS :
