I believe that the S1 offer is good till 1-3-25.
Best Service just around Christmas has the sale, buy $100 and over and get $20 off.
Or buy $200 and get $40 off.
Hmmm. I will wait and see if this deal is repeated in 2024.

Thanks, I'd missed that deal and it's certainly a lot more palatable than the $149 (or whatever).jamcat wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 3:45 pmIf you buy the upgrade from Best Service for $91, you can hold on to the serial number and register it once there's an update worth upgrading for. I wish I had done that, but I am hasty.dastewart wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 2:53 pm At some point I may well be tempted to upgrade from v6 (once there's a feature that makes it worthwhile). So I really hope they've sorted this out by then because it's a mess at the moment and pretty poor that they've made a fundamental shift in their pricing model and don't seem able to explain it. Or worse, but more likely, haven't actually thought through all the permutations before announcing it.
Tempting to "lock it in" and do as you suggest but I'm wondering if I should try Cubase first

How are you liking S1? I'm thinking about it but all I can find on YouTube are people schilling for it. I already have FL Studio all plugins but I think the simple linear workflow would be less distracting.jamcat wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 3:49 pm$91. There you go.

I have S1 V5 and like it a lot.
I also have reaper 6 and like it a lot.
Will wait to to buy S1 for a possible better deal at Best Service.
As noted above:

Reaper 6
Studio One 7
FL Studio whenever they get ARA
Cubase 14 is no longer a contender???
Would have considered Mulab and Hollyhock if they had ARA.
Right this minute it is Reaper! but if FL Studio had ARA that would be number ONE for me.
But then if I get S1 and tried it I just may decide make it my one and only DAW.
I will definitely decide by mid January 2025!

As there is no demo, could someone who has version 7 comment on the stability of this version please?
Also, can you record into the session view cells in audio and midi? I have zero interest in just a clip launcher.

I think it's time to get off this train, Presonus have become more and more stingy with their upgrade prices for existing customers, now you can actually buy the full version as a cross grade for pretty much the same price that existing users can upgrade which is insulting to people have have put good money into this programme for years. The upgrade isn't that interesting anyway, they haven't really had an interesting update for a good long while tbh.

I love Studio One and have used it since version 1.0. Each new version has made it better. Except maybe v7, which for me personally is a lateral move, and the least exciting update. I wasn't needing or wanting a Clip Launcher or CLAP support, though there are lots of other users with different workflows and needs than me who love those new features.rlared wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 5:49 amHow are you liking S1? I may end up using the Launcher anyways, as basically a multi-dimensional Scratchpad, since I'm already using Scratchpads.
The one thing I don't like about v7 is the change to how parts look in the Arrange window. The "no fill" grey is a different shade, Melodyne data looks different, and the corners are now rounded. It's that last one that really bugs me. I think I figured out why: I used Nuendo (and then Cubase SX+) before Studio One, and I really liked how parts in Studio One looked extremely very similar to parts in Nuendo until now. Now they look more like Logic.

I agree with pretty much all of that except that I'm not sure there's any other DAW that I prefer to Studio One v6 (or v5 tbh).aMUSEd wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 11:19 am I think it's time to get off this train, Presonus have become more and more stingy with their upgrade prices for existing customers, now you can actually buy the full version as a cross grade for pretty much the same price that existing users can upgrade which is insulting to people have have put good money into this programme for years. So, continuing your metaphor, I think I'm going to get off the "upgrade" train but probably stick on the "Studio One" train. At least until Studio One (or another DAW) gives me a compelling reason to upgrade/switch.

So I can confirm this is still a thing. No going back now

Same here. I've been following the discussions about all major DAW's in various forums over the last year and the complaints are generally increasing, regardless of the vendor. Lackluster upgrades, increased costs, increased pressure to switch to subscription models, the list is long.
So as long as there's no real compelling reason to switch, I'll stick with Studio One and occasionally treat myself to an upgrade.

Bump this question.
Can you record audio and midi into a launcher cell?
I do not want to launch a pre made third part clip. I do not wish to launch a section of audio that I previously recorded. I want to record directly into a cell. Can version 7 do this in just the same way as Live, Bitwig, Logic etc do? Or is it purely a launcher for pre made clips? I read on another forum that it is not able to actually record into a cell directly. Is this correct? Thanks.
