I use Ableton Live for writing, arranging, producing music and I love it. While it is absolutely possible to mix on Live, I find it getting in my way a lot (through fault of my own).
Once I have written a decent loop, I tend to listen to it over and over again and I start mixing it instantly to make it sound like a record, before I have even finished the arrangement or the rest of the song.
Let's also say that the Ableton Live mixer could use some enhancements (they have been improving with every version). While it is totally possible to mix and master in Live, I was wondering if anyone uses UAD Luna as their primary DAW for the task? If yes, what's your take on it?
It's on sale for $99 at the moment and let's just say I'm tempted.

A lot of people export stems to mix in another DAW.

I used to mix stuff from anywhere else in Cubase. I now mix everything inside Ableton - especially with 12.x bringing the mixer view to arrangement for quick adjustments of gains.

I ended up getting it for $88 on JRR Shop. I can use the plugins in a different DAW as well if I want to & I didn't have them already, so no overlap, worth it for me.martinjuenke wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 6:04 pm No Luna friends here?

I like the interface as well
Edit: If they add a proper piano roll and ARA support, I might actually consider it as a primary DAW.

How good is the workflow for somebody who wants to work with audio with no timeline.
workflow vs. zoom-in, zoom-out, etc. ?(permanently zooming araound / mac with TP)
i can´t gel with any DAW.
And ableton which i can operate steals my midi HW controls ( even if i deactivate them, it happens sometiems fresh again, and the GP intern "inter routing plugin" does not show up for me in live, so i´m kinda donne with live)
so, still looking for a DAW for ausio recording my jamms, then cut in pieces, paste, paste, arrange, etc.
yeah, still shows up for $88 at jrr with one of the codes. tempting ! ( but i´m short on funds)
some feedback much appreciated

I'd recommend downloading Luna and trying it out for yourself. The DAW itself is free, it's the extensions and plugins that are paid.Funky40 wrote: Sat Dec 14, 2024 2:55 am How good is the workflow for somebody who wants to work with audio with no timeline.

Luna is an excellent DAW for OP's purpose. Mixing is fast and easy because it sounds great before you even do anything. For use as a main DAW, it lacks a lot of MIDI capabilities, which is why I run Maschine as a plugin inside of it.

Cmon... You need to expand on that...!Uncle E wrote: Sun Dec 15, 2024 3:42 am Mixing is fast and easy because it sounds great before you even do anything.
Is it because of the summing engines available? Because UAD plug ins?
I always thought it was a bit of an odd choice of where to spend development money, and kinda assumed they were going for the live musician/gig market
Not the main DAW market.
