No, you certainly aren't obligated to be open and honest, but you'd probably get more useful information (and much less resistance) if you choose to be. With this being your very first post on this forum, on an account you created the same day as posting, it looked suspiciously like several other first-time-posts here and on other forums, where someone in bad faith is simply trying to outsource unpaid content to re-hash for their blog in order to build their web presence. Often, those people never come back once they get what they need; they aren't interested in being community members, they just come here to harvest free data. So I think that's why you're getting some resistance here, because your post resembles the same thing.hanhanhan01 wrote: Sat Dec 14, 2024 8:07 pm what difference does it make? I don't live in a facist state, nor do I have to disclose. Trolling people for the sake of trolling just shows how you have too much time on your hands. Honestly, get a life. I am researching and I am not obliged to disclose my university.
Show up, be a member of the community, and you'll get much better results. As it stands, you are someone who just showed up and expected free data on day 1, and lashed out when you didn't get it.

Not very familiar with research, are you? That info can / will steer answers into a certain direction. It is very hard for an observer to not influence the outcome of an experiment.buffalo roam wrote: Sat Dec 14, 2024 8:50 pmIt might help if you gave some specifics on what you are trying to find out, and for what purpose.
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

I don't see how having separate stems has anything to do with workflow when it comes to songwriting.hanhanhan01 wrote: Sat Dec 14, 2024 12:41 pm Would access to full stems (e.g., separate drums, bass, vocals) instead of loops/ samples improve your workflow? Particularly if you could choose any song stems?
There are many songwriters that have separate tracks for each instrument in a song and many have achieved that with a DAW that offers (to their taste) a good workflow, but having those separate tracks in and of itself has nothing to do with the actual "workflow".
Even for DJs and remixers having separate stems would open up options that otherwise wouldn't be there with stereo tracks but the workflow is all in how features within a program/app work.
