There is no info about it but I have Reason 12 running in my studio and on my laptop on the go. Same license. No issue.Funky40 wrote: Tue Dec 17, 2024 1:55 am a Reason licence is good for how many activations, just one ?

I used Reason since v1 so I know very well how far they are behind because at the same time I use other DAWs. I just wanted to know about the MIDI.Jac459 wrote: Tue Dec 17, 2024 1:22 am
No idea but if you don't have reason and plan to use it as DAW, just don't.
They are years behind the competition.
If they finally added support for MIDI out on VSTs into the other devices I might upgrade for the fun of it. 79 is not that much. On the other side if they didn't add MIDI from VST plugins I'll skip and wait for another version and another offer. That simple.

For the midi I don't know but I can try later today.
I am not using the DAW since ages.

It does not have midi from vsts at the moment sadly. There are work arounds but think I saw you mention you were not interested in them (may have been another poster so apologies if it was not you).kmonkey wrote: Tue Dec 17, 2024 6:59 amI used Reason since v1 so I know very well how far they are behind because at the same time I use other DAWs. It seems a good upgrade with the current discount. I watched a video about it and the new update 13.1. It convinced me. Still downloading it though.
I have several RE's that really good, so I might consider Reason as my second DAW for now (Ableton Live would be the first one). Anyway, I always find myself making some music whenever I run Reason! So, it's definitely inspiring although I prefer Live's or Cubase's sequencer and workflow. But on the other hand, maybe the simplicity in recording and editing are the key for inspiring and is it that what's important?! So maybe I will start something and finish it with Reason and see how it goes.

Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I'm just not tempted by anything in the new version to update even at discount. That said Reason is perfectly usable and does what it does efficiently. I don't like this subscription stuff though.

V13.1 is a frustration.
Go to Bitwig you will make music efficiently and with fun.

I find the new upgrade/update really nice! The new synth "Polytone" seems fantastic! My VST3 favourites are functioning well and I find the new workflow slightly better than before. I hope they keep improving on that.
Sorry, no Bitwig for me. I much prefer Ableton Live 12.

Hmmm, not so sure about that- Live is efficient and fun, Bitwig is a modular rabbit hole (I have both!). Reason is far easier to use than both of them and the 'players' and CV back patching is for me about as fun as it gets! Also being able to edit audio like midi (pitch correct audio singing/guitar) natively in Reason gives it a strong advantage over both Live and Bitwig for me- its a great 'get the job done' tool for singer/guitar songwriters. Bitwig is a lot of noodling, modulating fun, but by far my least productive DAW.
Given that I also have all the great instruments, FX and most importantly 'players' and tools in the rack for use in Bitwig and Live...Reason is a 'must have' option (although I admit the V13 upgrade wasnt until they took 60%+ off!)
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Ok, I'll skip this upgrade then. Since I use a lot of VCV Rack and their sequencer to send MIDI data out to VST instruments then I will miss this feature in Reason as a DAW.Samiver wrote: Tue Dec 17, 2024 8:58 am It does not have midi from vsts at the moment sadly. Thanks.
Btw yes, it was me. I don't want Loopbe and things to work it out.
ATM I am not producing in Reason anymore. Once they add this feature I might upgrade if the price won't be absurd. Even though I dislike the current ship steering of the current ReasonStudios crew I can not deny the fun factor of the rack paradigm.
I miss some features in Reason but certainly, I can see that someone else might not need a feature XY this Reason for them is worth looking at. I also suggest to anyone to check EKSS, Synapse, and Blamsfot REs. Top stuff.
Thanks again.
One small off-topic question: did you hear anyone from their team ever speak about this, as if do they are at least looking at bringing MIDI data coming out from VSTs into their DAW?

Funny you think that. I guess it depends of your workflow and use cases. For me Bitwig is lightening fast and the modular aspect only help me to be faster (I keep my rare grid exploration only for chilling, not part of my workflow). But I am not trying to convince you, it is quite natural to have different tastes and if Bitwig didn't exist I would jump to Ableton without hesitation.SLiC wrote: Tue Dec 17, 2024 11:24 amHmmm, not so sure about that- Live is efficient and fun, Bitwig is a modular rabbit hole (I have both!). That being said I am surprised that you have this view of Reason getting the things done. To me it is so slow... All the things I do in 3 clicks in Bitwig are 15 in Reason (when possible to do).
Even with the new side chaining devices, it is such a chore...
On the other hand I still like to play with reason for exploration. It has some fun devices... Just less and less....

Yes Matthias said it was on their to do list however I would not get your hopes up as he said this back in January 2021!!!!!kmonkey wrote: Tue Dec 17, 2024 11:25 amSamiver wrote: Tue Dec 17, 2024 8:58 am It does not have midi from vsts at the moment sadly. If you use online authorization, you can install it on as many machines as you like. If you want to use long-term authorization (up to one year offline), you can authorize up to three machines for that. If you use all three offline authorizations, you can simply remove the authorization from one of them, to use it on another machine. It is actually a very flexible and rather permissive system now.Funky40 wrote: Tue Dec 17, 2024 1:55 am a Reason licence is good for how many activations, just one ?
CrimsonWarlock aka TechnoGremlin, Moved to Reason and Rack Extensions exclusively (from Reaper and VSTs) several years ago.
