Nevermind.

Except in sound quality.

And workflow/interface imo. But hey, different people will like different stuff. I'd be so happy if I liked a free synth more than a $150 one.

I still like Sylenth. It's got a pretty UI, and sounds great. Simple. Does a lot

You mean being brutally honest and not a simp? You're right, I have not changed. I'm the same way face to face....maybe even more so since I don't have to worry about being banned in real life.

Yes, I dogged him about using Synth Edit in any way and he went on to eliminate the need for S.E. "to wrap the GUI" and we're all better off for it.....you're welcome.

Anyway as for why Lennard never made another synth:

1. Doesn't want to.
2. Doesn't need to.
3. Can't
4. Sylenth 2 is dropping next week.
5. None of the above.

We can only wonder what could have been if Sylenth had evolved with the rest of the competition. It's still a nice sounding little synth but there is so much it can't do that I don't reach for it often these days. Too much competition.....

Sylenth sounds good but imho it was overhyped from the beginning , all you need are a few trance heads that go berserk over the supersaw and the hype is born .
It doesn't even have osc-sync ..it's a synth for people afraid of synthesis and that's why it's popular (and probably a succes since it's feature set has remained unchanged for the past 18 years )
Some people even claim it's was the first high quality vst  , have they been living under a f..n rock during that era ?
At that time you had fabfilter twin which filter's sounded equally as good if not better , even the reaktor ensemble 2 osc ( that came with reaktor 5 ) set to 2* oversampling sounded better , with great filter fm etc..
The only ace it got up it's sleeve are it's great build in effects .

Might have sounded better to you, but what a puke stain of a GUI

LennarD nailed the whole package at the time, that's why its still a classic after so long

IIRC, once the author was asked about rewriting the filter with zero-delay tech.
He replied "nothing is wrong with current implementation". And he was right, the filter sounds marveolus, on par with best 0-delay implementations.

That can be extrapolated to the entire synth - "nothing is wrong with Sylenth1". ***
The synth worth fullprice anytime.

*** I guess, the reverb can be brought up, but it can be updated in future

Agreed. If it wasn't for him, synth UI's like Serum and others wouldn't exist imo. I think its good to look good. I hate using vsts that look ugly af

Zdf implementation won't make a bad sounding filter better , it will make a good sounding filter behave better under extreme conditions , one of which is filter fm .
Sylenth has a decent sounding filter , but how would it behave under extreme conditions ?

Do we need to care ? Enjoy the one he did, it sounds better than many others do today.

Why most be a great synth always need to do everything???

There are 10 thousands of presets made for Sylenth1 if not more... this thing was used in countless productions...
Never have heard of that about Twin...
How is this possible with without Osc Sync, PWM and ZDF filters??

The question is of course meant sarcastically... no need to answer it...

Why must great stuff always being dissed because it doesn´t do X, Y or Z... or because there might have been 1 or 2 competitors??
Lennard must have done something right/better than the others...
Never have heard people raving about Fabfilter synths... the reactions were more average to poor...

So no... it was never overhyped... it does what it was made for excellent and stands up well even nearly 20 years after...

Post

Good lord, extreme conditions? Osc-Sync? Twin 2?
Sylenth sounded and still does sound great for what it does and even back in the early days it used so little cpu... and came with tons of great sounding factory and third party presets.
That is imho why it is still a classic to this day..

It isn't meant to be a end all be all synth, it had its niche and did/does it excellently.

People still giving ‘reasons’ in 2024 as to why Sylenth is/was overrated is slightly tragic yet very funny.

(Of course it’s fine not to care for it, that’s not my point)
