Bringing up the gui of zebralettte while idling puts a lot of strain on the cpu and slows down the graphics of my host Renoise .
Also have the feeling that cpu usage has increased exponentially , a track can't play any more because Zebralettte consumes 70-80% cpu with a simple phase distortion patch and update rate of 800 Hz .

If something changes (CPU efficiency-wise) Maybe you must load your DAW clean and not load any vst plugins before Zebralette 3. (try it, maybe it will work)gentleclockdivider wrote: Wed Nov 06, 2024 4:23 pm Bringing up the gui of zebralettte while idling puts a lot of strain on the cpu and slows down the graphics of my host Renoise .

Not working for me in Renoise / Windows 8.
Ya I know...Windows 8. Could this be the problem? I know MOST new plugins coming out these days require Window 10 or above. Which sucks for tired old dino computers like mine. She still gets the job done nonetheless.
Kind Regards, Papa Dum Tek

Good to know as a Renoise user myself. Most "new" VSTs kill my poor old computer's CPU. I had this problem with HIVE2 from even years ago when i purchased it. I couldn't even try the DIVA demo. Which is weird beacuse I can MANY instances of Tone2 or Waldorf synths no problem.gentleclockdivider wrote: Wed Nov 06, 2024 4:23 pm Bringing up the gui of zebralettte while idling puts a lot of strain on the cpu and slows down the graphics of my host Renoise .

The behavior of points when you morph between Guides is unexpected.
For instance, if you have a point and want to move it from right to left, it doesn't follow the path of the point like in Zebra 2, instead it does some weird interpolation (Dune 3 does this BTW). Like, it would bend another point unexpectedly instead of just following the path of the point.

There is no morphing between guides, they simply just crossfade. This is very economical.
Some of the most expensive settings are those where the curve is used instead of the guides. In those cases the morph has to be reevaluated multiple times, and that costs a lot of CPU.
For that reason, I'm contemplating to do the "Crossfade" morph type of the actual curve with a simple crossfade (after rendering both curves into wavetables), too, instead of the (very expensive) crossfade morph of the curve.

Thanks Urs! One more thing...I've been having success drawing a staircase Guide and using Rephase for a sample rate reduction effect. And then I used Zoom to increase the effect, but Zoom only really works on waveforms that are the same on the left and right sidesUrs wrote: Sun Dec 22, 2024 10:59 am There is no morphing between guides, they simply just crossfade. For unequal waveforms, I've been using Drawstortion, and using the influence knob to increase the same rate reduction effect. What is the influence knob actually doing in this case? Also, the waveform decreases in volume as the influence knob decreases, so that's sort of an issue.
Thanks!

I wish for an update that fixes the intermittent crashes in Cubase (already reported). Or is there any new version since first public release?
Genuinly amazed by the sound and detail, but this is holding me off to actually start using it..

We are concentrating on Zebra 3 right now. While we work on this, we are also looking into fixing the reported bugs, so the Zebra 3 development will also benefit Zebralette 3. We currently cannot predict when we'll be ready for a new Zebralette 3 beta.

There is a bug in the MPE setting. When setting the pitch bend range to MPE, it works as expected. But when I then lock this setting, and then just change a preset, the expected range of 48 is not locked, but its reverting to the range in the newly loaded preset, though it is per voice. This is a bit annoying...
In Bitwig if I delete the patch and reload it, the MPE range is back to 48 btw...

Locking the pitchbend works fine over here.
Switching presets through Zebralette's preset browser does not change the locked PB settings.
That said, the current Zebralette 3 beta is not MPE compatible yet.
We implemented MPE support for our plugins last year, but the Zebralette 3 beta didn't receive such an update yet.

Ah, ok, the MPE entry doesn't have any meaning. And yes, the pitch bend locking on 48 works just fine. So its just voice per channel. That is fine for me...
