It’s still on sale for 39$ so this would be the time to get it!dastewart wrote: Sun Dec 29, 2024 10:27 pmInteresting. I don't think I auditioned Primavera because I got a bit bored downloading all the latest and greatest spring reverb plugins and finding I still preferred PSP Springbox.jamcat wrote: Sun Dec 29, 2024 6:39 amI picked up Primavera a while ago on sale, and it’s now my goto spring, replacing PSP SpringBox.
Primavera has a smoothness and warmth not present in SpringBox, and just as much drip, if not more.

Looks like I may have give Primavera a go

I compared a bunch of spring reverbs a couple years ago and wrote about it here. This was before Primavera or Fuse Audio V-REV 63Alexander_D wrote: Mon Dec 30, 2024 6:10 am Does anybody compare Primavera and Twangstrom from U-HE?
existed. But Twangström ranked pretty low on my list even then. It just doesn’t sound like a spring.
Here’s what I said about it then:
jamcat wrote: Thu May 11, 2023 1:24 am I found u-he Twangström to be pretty artificial sounding too. There's something uncanny about it that just never tricks my ear into thinking it's a spring. It's too clean and nice, and just sounds like a generic reverb plugin to me.

I apologize if I already posted this, but this freebie is pretty good for long tail reverbs: https://plugins4free.com/plugin/3767/
You can get up to 100 seconds of nice reverb with this.
Usually I hate reverb, but this one turned out useful for making pads.

Ok, I downloaded it and did a little bit of side by side testing and .... think I'll stick with the PSP. Absolutely nothing wrong with the Primavera but I wasn't really hearing an improvement on the Springbox, at least not once I'd done some tweaking to get them sounding roughly the same.jamcat wrote: Mon Dec 30, 2024 6:54 amIt’s still on sale for 39$ so this would be the time to get it!dastewart wrote: Sun Dec 29, 2024 10:27 pmInteresting. I could happily use either.
The only thing I didn't like about the Primavera was that the different reverb models had such a radically different impact on the tone of the source signal. I guess this is also a benefit if you're looking for that kind of versatility but once I've got the tone of the source sounding good I don't want to radically change it with the reverb. But maybe that's just me.

The best reverb I’ve ever used, hardware or software, is Cinematic Rooms Pro. It just always sounds right to me.

I own the Relab 480, but I’m waiting for Universal Audio to port the actual Lexicon 480 to UADx. The UAD plugin is a direct port of the hardware, and it includes the 480 Effects bank, too.

I think our opinion regarding Twangström is one of the only things where the cat and me are in full agreement.
It really just doesn't really sound like a spring reverb at all.
(For a number of reasons, each of which Sascha (its developer - who generally speaking I hold in hight regard) would flat out deny. It's pretty save to say that he personally has no real experience of his own when it comes to using spring-reverb - prolly hates the things with a passion.)
Twangström is to spring reverbs what Blue Cat's Spinal Vibe is to rotary speakers.
