PreSonus Studio One 7 apparently imminent

I notice my customization presets keep getting dumped. I think it happens when I update Studio One.
There’s no way to export or backup your user-defined customization presets, either. So I’ve recently started saving screenshots of the customization tabs.

If anyone is interested. If you own a perp license for S1 already you can get 7 for about $114 bucks (depending on tax), right now. They basically have a 30% sale and it stacks with your perp license discount. So about 95 bucks discount. Just putting it out there.

Crossgrade avaiable for $85 on Thomann at the moment, really tempting, even though I have Live, FL Studio & LUNA.

Yep. Went for it. Used an old Cubase license. I've been working sporadically in Reaper & Live for the last few years. I demoed S1 v6 and nearly jumped in then, but the clip launcher gives me the workflow I want in a single DAW.musicproducerdee wrote: Sat Dec 28, 2024 7:42 am Crossgrade avaiable for $85 on Thomann at the moment, really tempting, even though I have Live, FL Studio & LUNA.

Decided to bite the bullet and upgrade from 4.6 Pro vie the Best Buy website to Studio One 7.02. Last time I upgraded was 18th Nov 2019 (from 3.6 to 4.0), so I think I held off long enough and to have finally the things I wanted in my list that I made in previous threads years ago such as video thumbnail track, clip launching (as basic as it might be at the this point in time), new instruments, notation (for nostalgic value if not practical use), surround sound features, updated plugins (Prescence Editor finally unlocked), Improved Browser, ( more touch friendly with samples due to the bigger touch area + icons). In the middle of a studio room upgrade and got myself a new nice 4in 4out audio interface for under a hundred quid as well, so still have to do a proper test out with all the new instrument stuff.
Best Buy also gives you an option to get something for free atm. I went for the Brainworx Mastering plugin. Not tried it yet, but it seemed like an obvious choice of what's there to choose from.

My 2 cents is that it's unfortunate there is no trial. I don't really understand the decision behind this. This is clear gatekeeping of their product. I understand their idea is people can pay for a single month and have 100% of everything we have and that's why they aren't giving a demo/trial. But it doesn't take a genius to realize this is a wall you're putting up for future customers. Just kinda looking at the latest voidzilla video about CS go betting and that video is a good demonstration of when you make things hard for people to try your product and use it its not a good thing. Yes you're selling a service in 2025 now. Frequent updates etc. But this is a clear paywall that will keep people from demoing your product and will keep people trialing other daws and then buying those daws.dellboy wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 3:15 pm Well the sale is over, and I passed on upgrading from 6 to 7 because there was no demo to try before I buy.

Yes,it does seem an odd decision, especially as Cubase 14 has a free 60 day trial, and Logic 90 days.I have been trialling both of those while I have been waiting for the Studio One 7 trial.qtheerearranger wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 3:25 pmMy 2 cents is that it's unfortunate there is no trial. Steinberg
- 60 day trial
- many entry level products too
Presonus under Fender
- none of that
What is the thinking here?
- how to catch newcomers to musicmaking
What I thought for good while was that Presonus would ride out and catch as many as possible ready to take the plunge around $200 right away
- and when that saturated and no more sales announse entry level something at $100 or so

I also passed up on the sale to upgrade from S1 v6 to v7 because of the lack of a free trial version. Besides I've been spending quite some time reconnecting with Logic Pro 11 over the last couple of months and so far it has exceeded my expectations. Needless to say I'm not missing S1 all that much unless they add something very special to bring me back in.

I also decided not to upgrade. QA seems to have suffered as 7 still has bugs 3 months later. I guess the devs are busy making tools for Sample Arrangers.
Id love to try Logic but I'm on Windows
I demoed Cubase 14 but it felt like everything takes an extra few steps rather than drag / drop.
I like Reaper but the customization is too distracting and I never make anything with it.
Luna is very promising, but I need proper piano roll tools.
Guess I'll stick with S1 6 until I find an alternative that suits me.

Oh seriously? I guess that competitors like Logic or Cubase are completely flawless on release, no?J Veronica wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 7:10 pm I also decided not to upgrade. QA seems to have suffered as 7 still has bugs 3 months later.
Just take a look into dedicated threads on these applications.
