I've tried it on a house track but it made the sound harsh. I guess if you are after that aggressive monstercat-like slap-in-da-face sound this tool is for you. I prefer a more softer, rounder sound so not sure yet if I need this.
perhaps it emphasizes the transients but i also notice it cutting sustains somehow even in the full mix. try the default preset and crank it to max, and you will hear the sound really pumping and breathing, separating the elements of the mix. it's a harsh sound for sure, but also interesting. of course you would want to dial it back in actual use but im not sure if i could achieve this sound with any other tools i have.
You can limit to induced harshness in upper frequencies by using an adequate bias curve.

This is a powerful tool that can do a lot of tasks if understood by the user.
Definitely not a One Knob Set and Forget thing.
I'm happy to have it.

Couture maybe?

The release slider does indeed change the behavior a lot. With higher release the effect seems more useful, but it doesn't seem to be a tool you want to put on everything (or even many sources).

Can anyone whose bought or demo'd it make a yt vid showing what it can do? Preferably just bypassed/on flipping through on dif. sources. Curious what this can do but not enough to jump through the hoops of getting the demo.

Even audio file examples would be welcomed.

Why not demoing it?
I use it already often but I'm not willing to do the foot work for someone else, sorry.

what hoops? way less work you trying the demo than someone else making you a video for nothing

It’s the best way to lose weight. Cmon. You can do it.

So I ended up dl'ing the demo after all, and tested it out on a few tracks. Wasn't too sold on it at first, esp. after some eyeballed level matching; but eventually it impressed.

I'm still not fully convinced it's not just a new era sausage fattener or fancified dynamic eq booster, but on some stuff it has interesting dynamics going on that sound about right and could save time mixing wise.

Plus it's a reasonable cpu hit, ranging from 3-8% on my system. Which is an alright set up, but not crazy good, pretty mid range.

this thing is pretty phenomenal in the "smooth"mode. set it at like 0.10 with a release of about 50 and it can push even the most room and overhead driven miked kit to the forefront and give it the perception of actual closed miked transients. that's pretty crazy and it doesn't seem to be working like any other transient shaper i have awareness of either. literally sounds like source enhancement which is a rare quantity with plugins IMO. the phase distortion in the "crystal" mode though is pretty insane and over the top. would like to see a linear phase option for two buss/mix buss/ mastering duties

I've only used crystal mode on drums a couple times, but in every other instance I prefer smooth. Crystal seems too brittle sounding so far.

The more I use this the more convinced i get. Still well within honeymoon phase however. Hopefully they add some more waveform presets by final release, or better yet a mix knob, if possible.

Now try your same exact setup with a custom curve that boosts the upper 2/3rds of the graph just a bit, sorta resembling a high shelf

Was already using the bell, but it was just about on, so thought it wasn't worth mentioning :tu:

just to say that PUNCH not only a top quality but it can replace a lot of plugin in your chains you might using to bring your mix or single instance audio to front or push it back if you want . it's something else that exists out there when it comes to dynamics enhancements . it's like transient shaper and yet it's not . at least it deserves trial . it's spectacular !

what´s the latency vs. realtime play uses ?
"Plugin has turned Drug now"....and the business knows it.
