I suspect it’s some sort of a bug, I agree it shouldn’t happen. But I’m in no position to fix it.gentleclockdivider wrote: Sun Jan 12, 2025 6:13 pm Reaktor never produces cpu spikes , as soon as an ensemble is loaded the cpu stays there.(
Unless you' re inc/decreasing the nr of voices for the ensemble , and or enable/disable certain macros ( modules ) by the use of switches .
NI Reaktor, I forgot how awesome it is

That's weird , so it only happens with super 8 ?
What happens of you disable the effects ?

Yeah, only with Super 8, and I’m using Reaktor quite a lot.gentleclockdivider wrote: Sun Jan 12, 2025 6:28 pm That's weird , so it only happens with super 8 ?

I’ll probably try again with my new-ish M4 MacBook at some point, but at the moment I’m getting kernel panics when using NI software

That is certainly possible. Maybe there is some sort of memory leak going on or something? I do recall having some issues with Reaktor in general where one instance starts causing drop-outs even after deleting tracks with other Reaktor instances.nanostream wrote: Sun Jan 12, 2025 6:18 pm Interesting, but not my experience, even with lightweight projects. And I seem to remember several threads at NI‘s forums where people reported the same problem. Also, these spikes tend to creep in after a while or when reopening an existing project which didn’t cause problems before.
In any case, I’ve stopped using it or even troubleshoot it after NI told me they won’t look into it. Fortunately it isn’t an essential synth for me, and there are plenty of alternatives for this kind of sound. Still a nice synth, though, I’m happy it works for you.
Usually closing and reloading the project fixed these issues.

It is called "Reaktor Blocks Wired" in the Native Access list, did you check it? Not "Blocks Wired".masmelow wrote: Mon Jan 13, 2025 12:10 am I have BLOCKS PRIMES but it appears that BLOCKS WIRED is required for this feature to work. but it does not appear in Native Access.![]()

...or adjusting the clocking of voices at Core level depending on actual number of voices played (this is what Super 8 did for the VST plugin version - it technically could be backported to the ensemble - because the VST version actually IS just a Reaktor runtime).gentleclockdivider wrote: Sun Jan 12, 2025 6:13 pmReaktor never produces cpu spikes , as soon as an ensemble is loaded the cpu stays there.(nanostream wrote: Sun Jan 12, 2025 5:47 pm Super 8 is great, but produces CPU spikes, i.e. clicks and pops even on Mx Macs, regardless of the version used (standalone or Reaktor). Memory leak usually would not result in CPU spiking, this is an unrelated thing (and in general doesn't happen in Reaktor, everything is preallocated).bmanic wrote: Sun Jan 12, 2025 8:40 pmMaybe there is some sort of memory leak going on or something?
What is more likely is that CPU gets thermal throttled or something, or the payload is directed to efficiency cores instead of performance cores, etc.

I've checked it with Live 12 and S1 (on Windows 11). With Live, it kept push the Current CPU measure high and low. It did spiked when I change presets sometimes, but playing is ok.
With S1, it kept at about 11% for both the standalone and the ensemble. Anyway, the standalone plugin is unusable with both DAWs on a scaled 4k monitor, while the ensemble is blurry (of course like all Reaktor ensembles!). Pity! It sounds really great. Very big fat sounds but that annoying blurry GUI spoils everything! Come on NI! Put some love on the GUI of Reaktor ensembles.
I think on Mac it is a little bit better GUI. I don't know why (it is the same monitor used between my PC and the mini Mac)!

No , they won't ever fix the damn gui .
Currently , I just use the mouse area + multidisplay as coloured sliders .
It takes a bit of work to set them up properly ( some macros to scale values etc ) but once it's done I don't have to rely on those poor bmp based knobs .
They could have really propelled reaktor into the stratosphere with a well balanced vector gui for ui elements , but yeah sample libraries
