It has polyphony fx, filter note tracking, oscillator fm on the sub, a sub oscillator, fx, and sequencing features not in the original. It sucks they didn't add the filter FM or internal hpf.db3 wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2025 11:58 am Didn't expect this one. Assume Novation initiated it. Simple, well-modelled emulations interest me, but after a quick test I haven't yet had the impulse to purchase. A BS2 emulation would have been more appealing.
GForce Software releases Novation Bass Station 1 Emulation (free for owners of Launckey MK4, SL Key MK3, and FL Key MK3)

I don't' imagine Novation would be happy if the Bass Station II was modeled with their name on it and it is still being sold..

No, BSII has a different architecture. This is the original Bass Station, but with modern circuit modeling tech (at least that's how it sounds to me - I could be wrong!).starflakeprj wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2025 11:20 amYou mean it might be the same as Bass-Station II? You're correct. It's 100% coded by GForce.EvilDragon wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2025 1:14 pm No, BSII has a different architecture. This is the original Bass Station, but with modern circuit modeling tech (at least that's how it sounds to me - I could be wrong!).

Yeah the impOSCar3 release is quite buggy. It also doesn't work correct any higher sampling rates (well, it's sound changes).. even at 96kHz it sounds different to 44.1khz.40watt wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2025 11:39 am The demo don't work at present, times out immediately. Also not buying anything new from Gforce till they fix the VST3 automation in impOSCar3.

Shouldn't there be an upgrade price for those who had the original Novation Bassstation plugin which is now EOL?

I know your hearing is superior to mine, but I just tried and I can't tell the difference in imposcar between at least 48 what I use and 96 khz.. let me go listen to 44.

Didn’t expect that one too. But now it makes sense, when I upgraded mid last year to a new Windows 11 PC I spent a lot of time moving all plug-ins. Most successful, even got the Nord Modular Editor, XGworks and obscure things like Vyzex Venom editor working. But no luck with Novation Bass Station and V-Station. On the Novation website a message ‘V-Station and B-Station Plug-Ins no longer available’ is shown, from somewhere April 24. So no downloads and activations possible any more.
So most likely the were working on this already by then.
Indeed some discount for owners of the previous plug-in would have been nice.
Regretfully have to say I had sold them (but for quite a good price) later for things like a Korg Z1 and a Yamaha FS1r.

Too bad you were wrong. I absolutely would love a good Syrinx plug-in. I used to have 2. Bought them in their last sale early eighties when they were sold for 600 Dutch guilders (€ 270) if I remember well. Maybe even have been 400, I’m not sure. It was the time of DX7 so analog monophonic was out of fashion then. Travelled by train to the Synton shop in the city of Utrecht to pick them up, one at a time. Didn’t had a car by then.crimsonwarlock wrote: Fri Jan 17, 2025 2:04 pm I think I might have an idea, and posted it on their instagram. Thinking that the very short sound clip must have some sort of clue in it, I think it is the somewhat throaty sounding filter. That, combined with the text alluring to something quite rare, makes me think of the Synton Syrinx, which is known for that format-like filter sound. And it is rare and somewhat obscure, as only a few hundred were built.
I never had a Syrinx (I wish I had), but back in the Eighties Synton was the Dutch importer for Ensoniq and I bought my ESQ-1 from them. They also represented Fairlight at the time, but that thingy was obviously out of my price range![]()
But I might be completely wrong of course. We'll see next week![]()

Not only that, Novation is offering a free license for owners of their MIDI keyboards. I have an AFX Station, a Summit and 3 Circuit Mono Stations right next to me and I get nothing.simonbostock wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2025 2:04 pm Shouldn't there be an upgrade price for those who had the original Novation Bassstation plugin which is now EOL?

Interesting turn of events. I was not expecting this at all. The sequencer looks nice. Its a bit weird that midi controller owners get it for free but not Novation synth owners. I am not complaining they didn't have to give it away to anyone in the first place. But yeah as a BS2 owner not sure that plugin is for me.

I found a screenshot of GForce's next project:
Like I said....those who can, innovate. Those who can't, emulate.
On the subject of the Bass Station emulation: Once again we see a developer pushing the boundaries of synthesis back several decades instead of into the future.
But I don't blame them, it's easily reachable low hanging fruit and they've got to make money somehow. It's the same reason why McDonald's serves something they have the nerve to call "cheeseburgers".
Never mind me, I'm just in a particularly foul mood after watching my country officially go insane yesterday. Let's make some music.......

Here, with version 1.0.0 of Oscar 3, the envelopes change depending on sampling rate. It's easiest to hear if you do quick "zaps" or any kinds of clicky sounds or drums.zvenx wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2025 2:12 pmbmanic wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2025 1:45 pmYeah the impOSCar3 release is quite buggy. It's not a huge issue as the synth sounds really good already at 44.1 or 48kHz. I just noticed by mistake as I got a project here that was started at 96kHz and I wanted to add some of my drum sounds I made with the impOscar and was shocked that they sounded quite different.
I haven't pinned down exactly where or what changes but something does happen. Could be a combination of filter cutoff changes and envelopes.. as soon as some ranges change and you have a critical "just at the right spot" filter resonant peaks going on, the main output of the sound changes a lot.
On slow pads and such I can't hear big changes either.
